Took 6 weeks to come back and measure our roof. Last 3 weeks kept telling us he'll come then standing us up. He lives less than 2 miles away. Forgot $1000 of trim materials until last minute. We agreed to the extra materials instead of the cheaper metal flashing but that resulted in our old gutters no longer fitting right. When the crew did put the gutters back up, did it sloppily, took multiple tries, and didn't adjust downspouts.
Broke mortar in chimney when working with lead flashing. Forgot to install zinc strips which were extra cost in estimate. Installed later when it was pointed out but tried to talk out of it. Put wrong ridge on porch roof, also in estimate. We let them use a little space in garage for storage. While we were gone, everything in garage got knocked over and rearranged. Some stuff broken, some minor stuff mistakenly walked off at the end of the job. Relatively minor but pervasive damage to property like smashed window cover, hole in screen, gouged stone work, tar marks and scratches on siding and trim. Asked for final payment before siding and trim were finished up.
Left edge of plywood exposed an inch above porch roof on shaded side of house. This will wick up rain water and rot in a few years at best. New bathroom vent, which was flashed with ice and water membrane, leaked from a minor ice dam and continued dripping water on and off for 10 days in all weather conditions with no snow on roof, rain or shine. Said he'll come back to make fixes, probably during a January thaw. It was all thaw for the rest of the winter but he stopped returning calls.
The shingles look fine other than the few that got broken while the gutters were being worked on.
