This contractor was contacted and subsequently signed a contract on July 12, 2015 to replace our front door. It is a special order item and we paid a deposit of $3000.00 for materials up front. He was to install the door before September 30th.
Mr. Hallman was to send us links to doors and we would approve which one we wanted before he ordered said door. We gave him two different places which had doors we liked, one of which was 10 miles from our home, with the exact specs of what we wanted. He was to install the door before September 30th.
Mr. Hallman ducked our calls and emails, had his phone disconnected numerous times, sent vague text messages and did not respond to emails until late August. He stated he "ordered the wrong door" even though we had never seen a door to approve the order in the first place. He would not disclose the company he supposedly ordered the door from.
He finally came to our home on October 3, 2015, and said he was "trying to get the right door from the door company". He did not disclose from where he ordered the door. He had no receipts or any proof of purchase of any door or materials. He was completely empty handed.
He also said, "if you just buy a door, I will install it for free".
What?? No. He had signed over the check we gave him to another person and it was cashed in July. He (or someone he owed money to) had $3000 of our money and did zero things for that money. We asked for a full refund of the money within 10 days.
He texted us October 6, 2015 and told us "he would 'need a minute' to 'get up the cash'". We have not heard from him since, and we still have no new front door.
He has no bond, current contractor license, or insurance, though he advertises locally that he is an insured contractor.
