Very friendly salesman gave a very convincing sales pitch. So in June 2022 we contracted with Shield Energy. The material arrived a week later for installation. The installation started in July. They had issues with broken roof tiles. It took a month to find replacements. The panels were finally installed in August. Then nothing. Despite constant calls to get an idea when our project would be completed, it was always "let me check and we'll get right back to you". We were billed to start paying for our panels in October, despite the fact that they hadn't even done the electrical hook-up installation for the panels. After constant badgering, they finally came out the first week of November to install the wiring. The installers said all that was left to was to get the final inspection from SCE. And then....nothing. From November 2022 to the end of Janurary, despite our constant phone calls and endless 'promises', no action. Finally, they send a new guy, who's only been with the company a few weeks, to come and access the situation. Now he's tells us that the installation done in November won't meet inspection and they'll need to re-route the wiring. So here we are in February 2023, 9 months after the initial order, paying over $100 a month for panels that aren't even connected, and we still can't get a commitment as to when our system will be up and running!!! Shield Energy has promised to cover our bills or reimburse us, but no one will contact us or confirm when this will happen. This company is a sham and I would like to know how they are permitted to keep doing business! Stay away from these guys if they come to your front door!!!

By June M.October 18, 2022Solar panel installation
My husband and I contracted with Shield Energy for installation of solar panels at our home near Denver, CO. Jackson Spencer with Shield Energy called us a couple months later to set up a day for the installation. We agreed on August 3, but no one showed up. I called and asked why, Jackson said he'd forgotten to put us on the schedule. He re-scheduled for August 5, and the panels were installed then. However, it's now October 18, and no indication of when or if the panels will ever be hooked up. When we call, it's always "soon" or "your permit's been approved" (I would think the permit would have been approved PRIOR to the panel installation!), but no concrete answers. We are being billed for the panels, and, despite the promises of Shield Energy to cover the bill or reimburse us, they have done neither. Avoid this company; they are basically scammers.

Its been well over a year since the panels and inverter were installed, but never permitted or operational. We've been through multiple customer service reps, and now when they answer, its "we don't have an update". An update to what, exactly? Basically we are pretty sure we have a super expensive roof decoration, since we cannot even get the manufacturer to respond to whether we can have someone else work on the system. We may be able to recoup a small amount of our investment by selling the panels on Craigslist for someone to use for target practical in the desert. Otherwise, this has been a complete bust from some master scammers.
