    That was just one of the complaints we had about him and our experience was exactly the same starting in 2022. Instead of hiring an attorney we negotiated money. In the beginning he seemed like the best guy to work with and within a few months was so angry and made everything our fault. Please don't hire him for anything! Wish we didn't have to give a star to be able to submit this. Our review is on BBB as well.

    Contracted with Shutter Homes, LLC to build our new home. During the course of planning, Mr Speed instructed us via email that he buys all his cabinets from a certain vendor and advised us to contact them to design the cabinets. We worked with that vendor for several weeks to design and they provided us with a detailed blueprint. When the cabinets were installed, we noticed that they were not the same quality or finish, had warped doors and they were loose. We contacted the cabinet company who informed us that he had never ordered our cabinets from them but instead had one of his men build them. When we contacted Mr Speed about the cabinets he became very defensive claiming "we knew they were not from the company because we saw them being finished on site." He never notified us or received our approval to change the order to cheap made cabinets. After speaking with the cabinet company that we designed from, they informed us Mr Speed had not purchased a cabinet from them in 8 years. Yet he tells us in an email "I get all my cabinets from Cabinets.com." A lie.

    We tried to compromise with Mr Speed and requested he replace the cheap doors with new ones manufactured by a reputable company however as his usual, he got defensive and tried to blame us for "intentional misuse of the cabinets." Whatever that means. We have realized that the only course of action left is thru the civil court system and have retained legal council.

    Do your self a favor before contracting with Mr Speed/Shutter Homes LLC, by reviewing his D+ rating on Better Business Bureau and you will see strikingly similar complaints from others about how he gets defensive and runs away, never to return. Find a different company/contractor.
