I hired Mike around May 25th to install a new garage roof 4 weeks ago ,because mine had a dip in it. My roof is still not straight, now it’s uneven in a different area. His mediocre work isn't even the biggest problem though because I am still waiting for him to fix a few more wall shingles outside, touch ups and clean up his mess that he made in my alley so I can actually park there.

I was told this job would take about a week, so far we're at 4 weeks and counting. Why , you ask? Because Mike can't be bothered to show up when he says he's going to show up, he comes 3 hours late, 6 hours late, or my favorite, NOT AT ALL which has happened three times so far. He only sometimes texts when he's late or doesn't show, he only sometimes responds to texts or calls when we ask him when he's showing up because he's so late. The last no-show was this 6/15 Friday, called on Thursday, said he was coming Friday- then nothing. Finally on Monday he calls with an excuse that he was in Idaho with no cell service, would have been nice to know he wasn’t going to show up on Friday in the first place, instead of making excuses later. Then more nothing and now the new excuse for not finishing is he needs a ride to finish the job and has to wait until his wife can bring him, I was told this past Friday he would come “hopefully” come by midnight, which is ridiculous, I’m not staying up all night waiting for him, then Saturday another Midnight to 3 am. I told him absolutely not because he probably wouldn’t show anyway and we have to be awake and monitor him while he’s out there since he disappears and we want to make sure everything is done because this would probably be his last visit. Then was told he’d come Sunday , I told him anytime after noon was fine, but once again he didn’t show and didn’t bother to text. So here it is Mid- Monday and once again I’ve heard nothing from Mike.

It's this kind of nonsense that is why I would never in my life hire him again for anything. I have plenty of jobs left to hire people for, but I need someone who acts professionally, does the job in a timely manner and shows up when he says he'll show up without bothering me with excuses that are not my problem. He even told my mother he took other jobs while still not finishing mine, which was also another excuse for being late a lot.

My mother has been mostly dealing with him since I'm at work during the week and it's been a non-stop circus, we've postponed a lot of things because we were told he'd be here and he doesn't show up or is late, so my mom's missed two doctors appointment and other activities.. He brought a helper or two sometimes, and once even asked my elderly mother to drive his helper home--really? I would never allow my mother to be in a car with a complete stranger like that, and it is baffling that he thinks that was okay to ask.

Unfortunately I've already paid the full balance of the job, that's my fault, because I was told he was almost done so I wrote the check for my mother to give him and turns out it was not almost done, not even close.

This has been a terrible experience and I would not wish this on anybody, all for a still crooked roof. I've hired a lot of tradesmen in my life for various things and Mike is by far the most unprofessional, unreliable person I've ever had the displeasure to hire and apparently I have to beg him daily to finish the job and he still is dragging this out. All I want is to not deal with him anymore but he won't just finish the job, this is causes my mother and I a ton of stress.

All I want is to not deal with him anymore but he won't just finish the job, this is causes my mother and I a ton of stress.
