A house is far more than a home. It’s where life memories are created and shared. Attention to the smallest details, integrity and dedication to thinking outside the box is what S.D. is founded on. Write up your dream list, we’ll make that list become a reality!
My inspiration:
“My inspiration comes from my passion for architecture. The Italian, Spanish, Moroccan way of life. The quality of life in the centuries old way of doing things. The elements of construction: stone, stucco, iron, tile, the orientation and structure of a space combined with the wants and needs of the modern American family.”
The Process:
Every home we design and build is based on site specific realities. The surrounding views, the lighting at various times of the day, the physical space and what is around it. Clear and open communication throughout the building process is what we are best at. Identifying issues before they arise and helping the home owners with the decision process be as seamless as possible.
We are members of the Green Home Builders of the Triangle and take our environmental responsibility seriously. We strive to be good stewards of the land we at least temporarily, call home.
We pride ourselves on working with the best resources and craftsman around. Many have worked with us for 10 years or more. We only work with craftsmen who have a personal involvement and commitment to a project. They know we are driven to come up with new ideas. We try and conceive every angle. We feel that our work is a constant learning experience. Once we stop doing that, it is just a job.
The Result:
We like to tell our clients and prospective clients, you can work all year to get two weeks off and go somewhere else to relax and have fun. Why not make everyday of your life a holiday?

I met Vince in June 2020 to discussed building a tiny home In my backyard for about $64,000 for 390 ft.². He seemed very nice at first and I felt that I made the right decision to go with him as a contractor. Perhaps because the project was smaller compared to other builds, it soon become apparent that there was little attention to detail and the work was substandard. Sub contractors had to come back 2-3-4 times to fix mistakes. Measurements were WAY off in the kitchen which resulted in having to redo appliances twice and when delivered they still didn’t fit. Instead of correct the issue the right way, moving cabinets and cutting back countertops, his solution was to exchange the fridge i already downsized and put a “dorm room” fridge in.it wasn’t until heated discussion that he agreed to finally do it the right way. There were also wrong measurements with the foundation, a column holding up the front porch when installed was hanging off the slab a few inches which was quite noticeable. Vince just said it was still structurally sound. I asked him if it would pass on one of his more expensive builds and he told me “well, this is not a $1 million property”. That comment absolutely blew my mind and truly showed me Vince’s character. He didn’t give me input options on design features in the house. Even though it’s a small property, I upgraded things like adding French doors, granite countertops, upgraded flooring, Cedar Mill Hardie plank siding, and a 5 x 5 front stoop w/ cover in the design process. I asked him early on when I would be able to pick door styles and different features and he said he would send me options later on in the build. Months after the framing went up, doors arrived one day and I had no say in them. Needless to say they weren’t the style that I had wanted. All he said was that they were “special order”doors and they couldn’t be returned. The first faucets he got were very cheap. He finally switched them because they didn’t fit. Again, off with measurements but I guess that one worked in my favor. One time a subcontractor came out who was obviously unfamiliar with the project as he actually did work on my main home. It took three times for someone to come back to fix it the way it was. Vince in the beginning even denied it having being done, saying his workers didn’t touch the main house, but I got it on my Google doorbell camera and had to send him the video clip to prove they did it before he sent someone back to fix it. This build was riddled with delays, sometimes I even had to call inspection offices and deal with issues that vince was being paid to do. The building was finally finished in mid March 2021. We were always on time with payments and I paid 95% of the whole build in the beginning . The final straw was when Vince threatened us with a small claims court order for final payment before we even had the final certificate of occupancy and the power had not even been turned on by the power company. I would not recommend this builder for your next project.
