By Amanda P.February 20, 2021New build pool
DO NOT HIRE SILVER SPRINGS POOL & SPA!!!!! I hired them August 2020, & according to them the pool was complete October 2020... it is now February 2021 and my pool has had a leak ever since. I did my research and I thought I was hiring the #1 pool builder in El Paso. I've gone cheap before and had problems so this time I went for the #1 and they promised quality but all I've gotten is headaches and excuses from them. The owner Juan Carlos is very rude and dismissive! He always talks over you and talks to you as if you're a dumb person with no knowledge. Silver Springs is so disorganized and there is zero communication!!! Their "project manager" doesn't know anything ever. I had to ask the same question multiple times in email and texts before I ever got an answer and even then it was a guess. I added an extra 3ft of cement to my deck and they charged me almost 1000 for it. When I asked how they got that figure, nobody knew. Turns out I was way over charged and it took them about 2 months to return my money. I am having such a bad experience STILL with them. My backyard still has holes everywhere because they are still trying to figure out why and where the leak is coming from. Do yourselves a favor and DON'T HIRE SILVER SPRINGS!!! I know my friend hired them a month before me and she too has a leak and is experiencing the same headaches as I am.

In January 2017, we hired SilverSprings to replaster and retile an existing concrete pool (originally built by the company in 2001), lay pavers over an existing concrete deck, replace the flagstone on the front stairs with bricks (which we purchased separately on three occasions due to installation error) repoint masonry, and fix the drippers/sprinkler irrigation system for aprox. $60,000+. The job was supposed to start the last week of February and take about 4-6 weeks to complete. We paid 90% of the money up front and after several extensions, missed deadlines and late fees; at almost 6 months, they still haven’t finished. We were promised a project manager who would supervise the work, and after having an initial strong presence, he disappeared. The company failed to inform us that they had fired him in early March and chose not to replace him. Since the owner uses several subcontractors, having a dedicated project manager would have prevented much of the emotional and financial burden caused by the owner’s absence. The owner travels back and forth to his other businesses in San Antonio and Austin, TX and rarely has been to our property or supervised any work, which caused damage to our property, work that had to be redone (3, 4, 5 times) miscommunication, unnecessary delays, and stress. Unfortunately, my father passed and I had to travel home May 31st to settle his estate. The owner hugged me and promised me that when I returned in a week everything would be done and I would have peace in my home again. Not true – no one showed up for work the week I was gone. Now, not only is the work unfinished, but the quality is subpar. The plaster is stained and molted, the tile is chipped, crooked or covered in concrete, they broke our outdoor lights and replaced them with mix and match fixtures that still don’t work. Many pavers are broken, cut incorrectly, covered in concrete and not graded correctly. Worst of all, the water doesn’t drain away from our house or out the non-working drains the company installed. The front stairs are unsightly, unfinished and still have areas where the water pools. The front irrigation leaks so badly now that not only is our bill astronomical (see photo for $891), but El Paso Water Co. shut off our valve last week during the meter reading and requested an inspection (photo as well). The list goes on and on. My hope is that other homeowners reading this review and viewing my photos will avoid the aggravation working with Silversprings brings.

So happy with our decision to go with this company! Just moving to El Paso we collected bids for a new pool. From the very first meeting, we knew Silver Springs would be the company we trusted to complete this project because of their honesty and professionalism.
At the time that we collected bides we were still going through the home buying & closing process. We knew that we were moving to El Paso, our home would be finished being build by (x day), and that closing would happen on (x day). However, we still hadn't fully moved to El Paso- in-fact we weren't planning on moving to El Paso for another month but we wanted to get started on our pool ASAP to avoid the bulk of the construction dust.
To accommodate our timeline and our desire to get it done in the winter months, Silver Springs was able to go over the concept design virtually! They used 3D design tools and we were able to follow the design pitch flawlessly from the other side of Texas. We were also able to sign documents electronically so that the project could get started ASAP, prior to us moving to El Paso.
Every Monday morning we would get a call from Julie, the front office assistant, with updates on the project followed by emailed photos of the current site. I attached a few of these pictures in this review. This really helped settled our nerves with moving and trusting a company that we really knew nothing about. Silver Springs was able to stay on their timeline for project competition regardless of the holiday schedule which was fantastic!
They also gave us two free classes of "pool school" so we would know how everything works and gave us start up chemicals including salt (we have salt water pool).
We never had a problem with permitting, timeline delay, or project uncertainty. All we had was piece of mind.
Silver Springs might not be the lowest bidding pool company in El Paso but if you want it done right the first time and remarkable customer service through the entire process, they are the company for you!
