    Correct a drainage problem

    Unsafe and unprofessional-Do not hire Simpson & Co

    I do NOT recommend this contractor! I hired them to correct a drainage problem- and they ruined my yard and created an unsafe condition with the sidewalk!

    Three issues remain outstanding regarding Simpson Company's drainage and excavation work performed on our home's yard:

    Problem 1. Several days have passed since the last significant rainfall, yet the front yard remains an unusable, unsightly, and unsafe swamp, so wet I cannot mow the grass without sinking into the ground, resulting in a muddy mess. The alternate side of the driveway also remains a bog and unusable.

    In our initial discussions in which you outlined the procedures Simpson would perform to correct the drainage problems, you explained that the drains in the front would be connected to the sanitary system. I expect, as you do, that once your company completes that work the drainage problem will be corrected. The current status of a unusable and unsafe front yard is unacceptable.

    2. The water conveyance mechanism located on the upper gutter that expels water unto the garage roof requires remediation.

    3. On March 30 Simpson severed the natural gas line in the front yard, requiring the presence of the Fairfax County Fire Department and Washington Gas. I need documentation from both the Fairfax County FD and Washington Gas regarding the costs associated with their activities that evening and any subsequent activities related to Simpson's severing of the natural gas line. Simpson bears the responsibility and costs of the incident, and I need written documentation from both FCFD and Washington Gas showing that Simpson has paid all costs in the matter.
