On 5/8/2019, we contracted James Simpson to do construction project for us that was to be completed by end of day 5/15/2019. He agreed to build a new deck with 2 metal gates, add a fence to back yard, fill in holes on entire yard and sow grass seed, build a swell, add 2 interior doors, remove 6 cedar trees from property, repair/clean gutters and redirect water runoff with underground pipes, clean the crawl space, pressure wash the house and add screens to the windows. For this he charged a little over $14,000.
As of 02/02/2020, we still don’t have metal gates on the deck. The last time he replied to any of our calls or texts about this was on 09/03/2019, when he assured us the metal gates were almost ready and would be installed. The gutters over the back porch still overflow every time it rains, there are no doorknobs on one interior door and the other door has still not been painted. The holes in the yard haven’t been filled in and no grass seed has been sown. It took 3 tries over several months to get the swell ‘completed’ and it doesn’t completely redirect the rainwater. All three gates on the backyard fence are improperly leaving large gaps between each set, and all hang crookedly.
So we have a project that is incomplete with work that was improperly done. We are way past the promised completion date of 5/19/2019. Mr. Simpson made false promises, lied and will no longer respond to any calls or texts.
And we are out $14,000! So, NO, WE DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MR. SIMPSON FOR ANY TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT LARGE OR SMALL.
He would only send over an elderly couple to work on our project. They were very sweet and nice, but really didn’t know how to do the work they were supposed to be doing. We repeatedly ask him to send qualified people to do the work...he would say he was going to do this, but never did.
