I hired this company to paint a townhouse that I own. They did arrive within a week of signing the contract, which I was pleased because it is difficult to get sub-contractors this year. However, I was specific in the contract of what I expected. They were to pressure wash and hand scrape the south side of the building to prepare the surface for the primer before painting it. They did pressure wash it, however, they did not hand scrape the remaining loose paint that remained. I also think that they didn't wait for the building to dry completely after the pressure washing. Then they mixed the primer and paint and applied that mixture to the building, instead of applying the primer (letting it dry) then applying the paint. This resulted in a fractured paint surface, which looks horrible. I got the Sherwin-Williams© representative over to the site and he told them what was wrong and how to fix it. They did their best to fix it, but it still doesn’t look right. At the end of the project, they left paint chips all over the back deck area, which they were supposed to clean up, they left some of the caulk exposed, and some of the bare wood was still exposed.
Because of the items above, I deducted an amount from the final invoice (that I thought fair) (with pictures of the items in dispute) with an offer for them to return to finish the job; then I would pay them the remainder of the amount due. They never responded, then they sent a bill for the balance with a threat of sending the amount due to a credit service. It was a battle for the entire project.
