I hired Tyrone at Skookum Timber Works to remodel the upstairs of my house and he was fantastic! His bid was competitive, his contract was clear and thorough, and his customer service was excellent. He worked hard, was very clean and did a great job. I am going to hire him again. Thank you Skookum Timber Works!

Tyrone of Skookum Lumber was the first contractor we had ever hired. We were nervous about contractors, but he definitely put us at ease right away with his timely and professional, yet very personable manner.
He demo'd a kitchen wall, took up the existing counter/stovetop area, and replaced it with a custom wood island top, that he built himself. He also installed a hood over the stovetop, and reworked some electrical elements for us. He really understood what look we were going for and was very easy to communicate with. We are totally pleased with the results and the price.
He also cleaned up his work space very well, which I've heard some contractors aren't so good at!

The schedule was completely delayed (by months) and continuously my fault, continuously failed to do the work as I requested and purchase the materials I wanted (I had to buy the materials in order to keep the project on schedule for the plumbing needs), craftsmanship was poor due to the inability to time manage and serious shortcuts taken, abusive language towards myself in regards to setting boundaries about not paying for work I did not approve of and not paying the final bill as a final walk through was not done (just a text telling me he was done and to pay), numerous threats about not paying and I am wrong despite my telling him of issues that needed to be resolved, called out numerous days further delaying a 4 week project (Started May 15, supposed to be done June 12, not "done" until August 5 and things are left unfinished and not to industry standards), consistently used the contract against me as to why he "didn't have to do the work the way I requested because he wasn't my employee", unprofessional and inappropriate conduct on numerous levels, refused to do any amendments to the contract once we halted construction due to serious issues leaving myself and my husband to just want to finish the work so he would leave. We still have not paid the remaining balance he claims we owe due to numerous issues of having to buy my own materials with no credit towards my bill, damage to the home in which he caused and did not repair which I did, and materials that he stated he wanted to purchase from us (surplus) and no credit was given for that either. Lien releases were not provided and he had such an issue with the plumber HE hired, I had to get involved to have the issue resolved so my bathroom could be completed.
First time hiring a contractor and I am so regretful but this was a great learning opportunity. I am currently in the process of suing in order to get money to fix the poor craftsmanship, damages from leaks he caused, and to repair the work he did and finish the work he did not.
Updated 12/28/17- First, This was in Mount Vernon WA but BuildZoom will not correct it. Second, I have tons of pictures and bids from other contractors that shows he illegally did work, did not waterproof my shower which has to be redone, and left things completely unfinished.
Third, I did not "run out of money" and Buildzoom also refuses to allow me to post my response to his slander. I returned to work from a 3 month MEDICAL LEAVE and miscalculated my payday. I refused to pay as he would NOT give me a final walk through and he illegally put a lien on my home causing me to get an attorney and now sue in order to get my home made right.
He is abusive and derogatory towards his clients, especially women. He did not listen to anything and if BuildZoom would let me, I would post pictures of inappropriate texts he sent me as well as his "craftsmanship".
