    Would I recommend Stephen L. Benoit and/or Moose Hill Development? Absolutely NOT!

    Up until 2013, this contractor used to build nice homes. In 2014 he got in over his head and started failing to complete projects leaving several people in Sharon, MA stranded with incomplete homes and in some cases, unfinished private ways. He has a track record of getting into legal contracts with projects that he may or may not ever work on with the sole intention of getting bought out, or getting kicked out after which point he litigates.

    Fundamentally his business practice is not noble, and despite his ability in the past to build a nice home, he no longer should be trusted. The Town of Sharon will not issue a building permit to him which says a lot.

    His most egregious act was a new subdivision on Everett Street in Sharon, MA where he promised 5 families homes in 2014. After almost 2 years abject failure to get approvals and absolute non-performance, the land rover got fed up with Benoit and kicked him out of the project, and took on the responsibility to finish the new road that allowed for home construction to start. Benoit mislead all the potential homeowners the entire time always saying that things would get started in a month or so.

    As evidence of Stephen L. Benoit's fall, several open court cases can be seen on www.masscourts.org in the Superior Court, Norfolk County: 1482CV01672, 1582CV00043, 1582CV01455, 1582CV01487. Two of them were National Lumber suing him for non-payment, and the latter two are related to damages on the afore mentioned subdivision. More suits are likely to be filed against Benoit related to this project.

    I am directly affected by this problem and have lost over $35,000 to date, not including legal fees. My advice to you is to research a General Contractor's legal history, and if it's as colored as this one, run away, run far far away. Stephen L. Benoit and his company Moose Hill Development are deceptive and predatory in their practices and should not be trusted, no matter how good the price may be.
