On 11/20/23 I contracted with this company to build a Cabana with an outdoor kitchen. I had all of the materials as well as the grills etc that I wanted in the kitchen. Upon signing the contract, I gave Mr. Smith a deposit of $8330.16. Mr. Smith was supposed to submit all of the paperwork for the required permit. Initially, Mr. Smith stated that because of the upcoming holidays, it might take a longer than usual in order for the city to issue the permit..In January, when I didn’t hear from Mr. Smith, I contacted him and he claimed that he didn’t know why it was taking so long and also stated that he tried to contact the Permit office but they would not call him back..
All of this was a lie, I contacted the permit office and they returned my call within 15 minutes..I talked to the inspector who was in charge of issuing the permit. The inspector stated that she tried contacting Mr. Smith concerning several issues on the paperwork that Mr. Smith submitted..The inspector further stated that she tried sending several emails, phone calls but Mr. Smith would not respond..
Upon hearing this information, I contacted Mr. Smith, he was seemingly shocked that I had caught him in another lie. Mr. Smith ultimately corrected the mistakes and the permit was finally issued..Shockingly, Mr. Smith stated that he could not start until he got his electrician approved..
After getting his electrician approved, Mr Smith sent a crew out to do some prep work and was paid an additional 4,998.09. However, after doing the basic work, his crew left and I have not heard from him again…Mr. Smith was given a total of 13,328.25 as required by the contract, but the build of the Cabana/Kitchen is no closer to being finished…A check into Mr.Smith revealed several similar issues with other customers. Seemingly Mr Smith M/O is to take people’s money then Ghost them…His previous company Elite Landscaping has an even worse reputation….
