I was referred to Smokestack Lightning through Duxbury Chimney Sweep in Duxbury with whom I had done business with since I bought the house in 1987. I believe Smokestack bought Duxbury Chimney Sweep.
They did a great job, arrived on time and completed the job in accordance with the appraisal. When they came to do the appraisal they took an internal video of the damage as well as a picture of the damaged cap and shared that with me so I could pass along to the insurance company for claims purposes. The scope of the job was to repair an internal crack, reline the entire chimney walls and replace the outside cap. I had a small fire that was contained inside the fireplace which caused a long 2 1/2 foot crack inside the chimney and damaged the outside cap. Marshfield Fire Dept was on the scene. But again no other internal damage to my home.
My damages were about $2600 . One thing I did want to mention is that I had to pay them 50% of the contract price up front so they can order the materials to complete the work and secure all necessary permits. That was not a problem. Then 50% is due when the job is complete, however, although they requested payment that day I withheld payment until I got the official sign off form from the Marshfield Building Town Inspector. Which was about a week later.
