By Barbara L.August 6, 2019Addition to house, remodel interior, rebuild garage$120,000
I am one of the owners of 2623 S Kenwood Street featured above. Our experience turned into a nightmare, which remains ongoing. Between September 2017 until today no action has been taken to complete or correct jobs left undone. For one example, on the north side of the house at the roof line of the addition siding and whatever else is needed to attach it to has not been installed, leaving it open to the elements since 2017. And as another example, a gas fireplace was not installed until the winter of 2018 and never worked properly because it was improperly installed. Tired of waiting, we had a reputable expert discover why it wouldn't work, which was improper installation that damaged parts.
In addition, there is never any response to simple inquiries about problems that keep coming up. This April the outside valve of the new sprinkler system began leaking into a basement room in the house. No response as to whether or not this main part was covered by warranty or whether or not one of the plane trees that died within 1 1/2 years of planting had any replacement guarantee.
And additionally, we've been told that personal family property was found when the inside of our family home was remodeled and that it would be given to us when we moved in. As we continually ask for it, we are ignored.
I could go on but won't. If anyone wants to learn more about our terrible experience, they can contact me at: [email protected].

We, Barbara LeBow and Mary Llywellyn, are co-owners of 2623 Kenwood Street and are so distressed by the continual problems occurring at our home that we wanted to provide a follow-up review. As old, retired ladies, we expected not to deal with constant repairs at our family home for many years. Instead problems regularly appear 2-3 years after the remodel, including cladding on the face of the new, two-car garage blowing off in only a 13 mile an hour wind, paint pealing away from the frames of the garage door and the back house door, cracks in the garage cement floor and some appearing in the driveway, replacing 4 of the led ceiling lights that are suppose to last about 20 years. Rain gutters needed to be installed, as mentioned in our last letter, but the job remains undone. We are receiving quotes from reputable companies as we can't risk further damage to our home. No satisfaction from the contractor, who kept asking for more money during construction. We are sending our bills, including the repair of the faulty gas fireplace installation, major repair on new irrigation system, etc., to the contractor. We also want the personal property he took from our home saying he was going to present it to us when we moved into our remodeled childhood home. Even though we expect a non-response, as always, it is a matter of principle for us. We believe in integrity, that one's word is one's bond.
