    Landscaping
    $59,998

Steve Luna is a conman and a thief and stole all of our savings and walked away. He pretends to be a good guy and sells you on it. He has not finished any of our work, ruined our entire house with poor workmanship. He stole all of our money and did 10% of the work. He has no license or bond with 20+ complaints again him. We will have to hire someone else to fix everything he did. NOTHING is complete, everything is cracked and flawed. Whats worse is the mental stress and anguish he has caused. STAY AWAY at all costs.

    Backyard hardscape and gas firepit

I had the EXACT same experience as the previous commenter ("By a user in Laguna") in April 2016. Do not EVER use Steve Luna to do any work at your house. The project was way behind schedule, multiple crews quit because they were not being paid, he was rarely at the job site, and refused to communicate with my wife who was managing the project. I could go on and on but really just read the previous review which is very thorough and well composed.

Repair of backyard BBQ, fire pit, pool, and hardscape

We hired Steve Luna of Napa Exteriors based on the recommendation of a close friend for whom Steve had recently completed a small job in my friend's backyard, reportedly mostly on time and on budget. That said, I learned later that in my friend's case Steve apparently did not pay the workers at the end which is why they quit showing up. Unfortunately I did not learn this until we were weeks into our job. My mistake was relying on one friend's reference and not doing my normal due diligence.

Putting the summary first, I have never had such a terrible and stressful experience with a contractor in my entire personal or professional life. In addition to having had homes fully remodeled in the past, I have a business which deals with contractors all the time. I normally do background checks and review references thoroughly and have never had any significant problems. This time I did not do that and I paid the price.

Steve Luna promised far more than he delivered. We are now in week 19 of an 8 week job and had I not been here almost daily, managing his employees when they bothered to show up (if they really are employees...probably a lie), this job would not be anywhere near completion. There were several weeks when no one showed up at all and Steve either made excuses (several family deaths and emergencies were favorite reasons) or flat-out lied to me. For example, one week I was out of town on business and I texted him for an update. He told me his crew was working hard and making great progress. My wife called me to ask why no one had shown up all week. Steve Luna is not only unreliable, but dishonest as well.

As it turned out, we had to cancel some of the scope of work and hire other companies in order to get it done and done correctly. And I will need to hire someone to fix some of the damage Steve's crew did to our property. Steve was rarely onsite to provide direction...and in fact usually only showed up to ask for more money. His crew changed almost daily...we had at least five different sets of workers to do all the same work over all the 19 weeks. Knowing what I know now, my suspicion is that it had to do with being paid...or maybe they just tired of his lies as well. Some of his workers were actually quite skilled and hard working and did a fine job...but Steve never directed them and sometimes assigned them tasks for which they were not qualified. Again, had I not been here daily things really could have gone awry.

We are now nearly done, but it has cost me dearly in additional expense as well as personal mental stress and anguish. In addition, I've had to postpone and reschedule both personal and business travel and activities due to his lack of performance and my lack of confidence in ANYTHING he has told me. As it stands now, while most of the work is done, some we will need to correct and for that I intend to hire someone else. I simply do not want Steve Luna of Napa Exteriors on my property or in my life any longer.

I am not the type to sue people, and fortunately do not yet have the need, but Steve should be sanctioned and forbidden from ever acting as a contractor ever again. Hopefully on reading this you will heed my warning, and that of others similarly victimized, and avoid doing business with Steve Luna of Napa Exteriors.

    Sadly - no longer reliable

We hired the company based on seeing their work and reading the good reviews. Unfortunately during the past 2 years the company has suffered a deep decline. We were very disappointed - the job was never finished after multiple 'promises' and requests for more money. Owner Steve Luna owes us money, we've reported him to BBB, made multiple requests for him to 'make it right' and have received absolutely NO response. We had to hire another contractor to finish our work after waiting months for him to return while our yard was in total upheaval.

Solage is probably another word for LIES in some language !
Steve Luna and his crew lied to us so much that for every Lie if we were paid a penny we would be richer than Bill Gates. Right now he has 18 complaints with the CSLB and the Bond Company. We, many of us, have had to pay contractors and suppliers to get a Lien Releases after Solage was paid off and work still incomplete.
His License is suspended and Bond Revoked.

This was our third exterior remodel with Steve, the first two went well, on time with few if any hiccups. This last job, a very simple task to be completed in two to three weeks went on for months. Missed appointments, laborers didn't show or know what to do when they arrived. Many calls and emails to Steve left. Us with broken promises to show up and finish the job, he abandoned the job. Don't advance more money on your job with Steve, you need to keep him coming back. If I owed him more money he would have finished my job.
    Good luck
You may contact me at 714/746/2692 to verify.
    Thanks, Gene

At present Steve Luna/Solage Landscape Exteriors, has at least two Contractor License Board complaints and three claims against his bond company. If you don't want to be added to this list....

We agree with all the complimentary words that has been said about Solage Lanscape Exteriors, Steve and his entire crew are so great to work with. Steve listened to our ideas and budget and worked with the two to make an amazing finished product. We have finished two projects with him already and are now staring a third!!! Looking forward to working with him again!

Stop your search for a Landscape/Hardscape Contractor and sign with Solage/Steve Luna. You will regret it if you don't. Solage has exceeded my expectation in every way. Their customer service, quality of work, pricing, and timing was more than I expected. My husband is a specialty contractor and he was impressed with Solage in every way. Steve is honest and knowledgeable when it comes to your yard. His manager, Fernando, will make sure you are happy and be there for you whenever you need it. Customer service is definitely Solage number one priority and it shows every step of the way. They don't skimp out on material and only use top quality materials for their job. I never write reviews on anything or anyone but I just had to for Solage. I'm in love with my back yard thanks to Steve and Fernando. Thank you so much!!!

I have used Solage Exteriors for two home improvement projects. Our backyard was done in 2008 and our front yard was completed in 2012. He did an absolutely fantastic job. Our back yard still looks great and we receive compliments on the look. He listened to what we wanted to accomplish in our yard and had ideas and plans to make it happen. He was flexible on the design and incorporated the small finishing touches to bring our personality into the design.

He was on budget and gave us options in the design stage on ways we could reduce cost so we got the design we want at the price we needed.

Good quality, attention to detail and his staff is very customer focused. We have recommended him to our neighbors and he did their front yard as well. So I would highly recommend Steve Luna and Solage Exteriors. We are 100% satisfied. Tom & Pat Shea - Yorba Linda, CA

Solage Exteriors is absolutely a first class landscaping company!!! The attention to detail and the customer service given to us from the original meeting were unlike anything we have dealt with from any other contractor... We are beyond thrilled with the job which was just completed on our front yard!!! Un-fortunately we used another company to do our back yard and with a planned budget the price continually changed week to week... Once our job was complete getting that company to come back out to fix anything was leave a message after the tone..... Nada!!! The crew at Solage are so polite and accommodating to the customers needs! We will use them and recommend them to anyone who asks for a Wonderful contractor!!! Thank you Steve!!!

We both were very pleased with the job done on our backyard landscape by Solage Landscape Exteriors. Steve, Fernando and the rest of the crew were great to work with and made the whole process of the over haul of our backyard that much easier. When we contacted Steve we let him know that we already had landscape plans from a landscape architect from the year earlier but at that time we just were not ready to proceed. Steve came over and took a look at our plans and came up with even better ideas of what we could do with our space. We had our work done over the very rainy holidays of 2010-2011 and even then the work stayed on track with only a few rain out days. We even had a huge crew over on Christmas eve that year as Steve knew we were hosting Christmas Day and knew we wanted the backyard to look awesome for our event even though we were not scheduled to be quite as far done by that time. We were exceptionally pleased with the way Steve would deal with any problems that came up, each time easing our minds and making the problem that much less of a worry. Our original landscape architect had actually put our outdoor fireplace in a spot that would have not allowed us to have seating at our barbecue bar. Well Steve's crew followed the original plans and to my dismay there was no room for stools for the bar. I contacted Steve immediately and he came right out and had his crew rip out what had been done and corrected the problem with out any extra charge to us. We were very impressed especially since he had not done the original plans. In closing all I can say is that when we are ready to proceed with our front yard I will be calling Steve to have Solage Landscape Exteriors redo everything.

It has now been about a month since Solage finished our backyard/pool remodel.
We love their work more today than the day they finished.
The entire experience with Steve Luna and all his staff was above expectations.
At the first meeting with Steve he listened to our ideas and wish list, took pictures of our yard. At the next meeting he showed us the initial sketches from his designer. From there we changed very little! (a testament to how well he listened and understood what we wanted) Steve never rushed us into making a decision, never discouraged discussing changes.
Through out the entire job the site was always kept clean. Every single person from his crew was terrific in both their skills and personalities.
We have to mention Fernando, Steve's "right hand man". Fernando has an excellent "eye" and keeps track of all that is happening.
When it comes time to redo our front yard, I'm not calling anyone else!

Solage Landscape Exterior made sure that everything was completed and on budget. I have worked with contractors before where it was change order after change order over the smallest item. Solage made sure that I was happy with everything at the end and went out of their way to make sure of that. For the work that they performed (front and back yard, hardscape and softscape) and for the cost that they did it for, I cannot recomend them enough.

Choose the lowest bidder and get what you pay for. Choose the highest bidder and know you were ripped off. Choose Solage and know you paid a fair price for a great job and a contractor that does not nickel and dime their customers and stands by their work including coming back to fix things after final payment.

We sent a request to 9 contractors to bid on our professional created landscape drawing and after all the quotes we down selected to 3 contractors.

We selected Solage out of these three because the referrals they gave us talked so highly about them (raving reviews, came back to fix stuff even after final payment, people working everyday on their project, fair price and a great job.) Everything we heard from the referrals was exactly what they did for us.

You should see our place to see the attention to detail work Steve and his crew do. You should ask Steve to take you around to see his projects. Amazing job SOLAGE!!!

Conclusion: If you have not done your homework as well as we have and are really looking for great information about Solage and a recommendation, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you hire Solage for your project. You will be happy when your project is finished.

After our very first meeting with Solage, my husband and I knew, without a doubt, that this was the company we wanted to go with for our front and back landscaping. Steve's company did an EXCELLENT job; not only did he work with us for months while we finalized the plan, he provided creative and innovative ideas to help design our space and make the most out of it. He even provided full color 3D renderings of the final idea (as opposed to just a blueprint which is difficult to visualize). All our friends have commented that our yard is one of the very best they have ever seen, and 100% of the credit goes to Solage. Steve and Fernando are a pleasure to work with; they repeatedly went out of their way to make sure every detail was taken care of, and always did with it a smile on their face. The crew was very professional, highly skilled, and always made sure to clean up after they were done for the day. Our experience with Solage has been nothing but positive and they have our absolute highest recommendation.

We have just completed our second project with Solage Exteriors and we are thrilled with the results! Initally we wanted to redo the front yard hardscape and landscape on our 30 year old home. We found Solage while driving around admiring exteriors in a new home development and noticed that many we liked were done by the same company...Solage. We contacted them and met Steve Luna who is friendly, knowledgeable, professional with a good eye for design. The thing that impressed us initially was his "can do" approach to our project and his creativity with regard to our ideas and the restrictions of our lot and slope. Obviously price is a concern, but Steve was very competitive in his bid and we were pleased that what was quoted was indeed the bottom line price (not a lot of add-ons as we went through the project). Other companies just provided a rough estimate but Steve provided a line by line detailed spreadsheet so we knew exactly what we were getting. The thing that really impressed us and ultimately made our decision was his attitude. We sensed that customer service was as important to him as it was to us. One of the things that we were concerned about was whether Steve would be personally supervising our project or if we would be "handed off" once the contract was inked. He assured us that he would meet with us regularly and he was true to his word. He was accessible and met with us frequently to assess the process and to personally attend to any adjustments we requested. He and his crew were always pleasant, patient and and accomodating. The front yard turned out BEAUTIFULLY! We are so pleased to feel that we have the nicest home on the street thanks to Steve and Solage.

Because of our satisfaction with the front yard job we recently contacted Steve to completely redo the backyard and pool areas. Again, Steve was very patient as we worked through several design modifications finally settling on a design that we were most excited about. Because of the extent of the remodel, Steve was even able to break the project down into phases in order for us to spread costs out. Once we got into the project, however, we decided to go ahead with nearly all the construction at one time. The craftsmanship on this project is amazing! We have a beautiful back yard with fireplace, built-in cabnitry, built-in barbeque, covered patio and the list goes on...many of our friends are wanting to host parties/weddings in our RESORT backyard! Steve Luna requires his crews to be prompt, work hard, be pleasant and clean up when they are done for the day. Never once were we disappointed in his workers. He is assisted by job supervisors that are as conscientious and accomodating as he is. We enjoyed working with Fernando and Umberto as well. Solage reflects values that seem to be missing from many business these days: customer service, friendly pleasant workers, neatness and cleanliness, honesty and integrity. We have proudly displayed Solage's signage throughout our project and now heartily recommend Steve Luna and Solage Exteriors to everyone who is considering a landscape job. Well done, Solage!

Reasons why we are such an extremely pleased Solage customer, and why without reservation would use the services offered by Solage Landscape exteriors in the future.

    • After meeting with several landscape contractors and may I add some extremely eccentric individuals with proposals all over the board, amazingly I swear at times we felt they weren’t listening to our ideas or our needs. After a year or so of wasting our time and theirs, we met with Mr. Steve Luna; Wow! He listened and actually built upon our ideas, what a great concept!

    • Believe it or not, the workers show up every day and on time, were courteous and cleaned up after themselves each day.

    • There is no such thing as a perfect project and if you know anyone who has recently had construction done, they will tell you the original quote was affordable, however it was the change orders that took them beyond their original budget. I can honestly say Steve Luna was fair beyond expectations not only monetarily but with attitude when we addressed changes as the project progressed.

    • My wife and I are extremely meticulous and known to be a bit on the frugal side with our funds and most of all, who doesn’t like compliments from family and friends? Well, Solage Landscape Exteriors under the direction of Steve Luna met all of the above mentioned concerns and needs.

    Sincerely,

    Ed and Ginny Daly

Steve Luna and his crew at Solage Landscape Exteriors has done a terrific job with my landscaping. My wife and I had difficulty finding someone who would listen to our desire for a formal and a country English garden. Everyone wanted to overuse hardscape, but Steve understood our wishes for a lush green tranquil garden. His crew were on time with the timeline and paid very close attention to detail. The costs were appropriate and fair. I highly recommend Solage Landscape Exteriors. Better yet, he is a fellow Friar who graduated three years before me.

We have a home in the Corte Bella development in the city of Yorba Linda. We hired Steve (Solage) to do our landscape, front and back. Steve had excellent ideas on how to landscape our property and also was mindful of incorporating our own personal ideas into the plans. We were impressed from the very start with his workers who were on the job everyday until it was finished. His workers are true craftsman, who insist on perfection in every aspect of the job. Steve was there everyday overseeing the work and making sure we were pleased. We also appreciated how the workers cleaned up after each day. There was never a mess to contend with. When we had changes to our plan, Steve was very accommodating and always made the changes without objection. We found Steve to be honest, professional and a talented person who we would recommend without reservation. Steve is the very best contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with on our home landscape.

When I saw several beautiful landscapes throughout the Corte Bella development in Yorba Linda and found out that many were completed by Solage Exteriors....I decided to contact Steve Luna. At first I was bit concerned about pricing since we had to deal with a limited budget. Steve not only assured me of his willingness to work smaller projects but went out of his way to maximize the best and most in design elements. I have to echo the many fine comments that have been expressed about Steve, Fernando and all the hard working craftsmen at Solage Exteriors. All have been courteous, personable and professional. It's been a wonderful experience working with the Solage team.

My wife and I was looking for someone who can work within our budget. We looked at least 5 contractors. I did my own design and present it to the contractor to give me a proposal quote. Most of them they want it to change the design and the quote was to high and they said it cannot be done with in our budget and they cannot even give me an itemize detail of the quote. I met Solage Exterior Steve Luna and with all the 5 quotes I got Steve has the most best presentation, He present me with the itemize quote and the work schedule, he also respect my design and work with our budget. He was very professional, he comes and visit to see the progress of the project and he gives you more generous service. He was 2 weeks early to finishing the job and we are now enjoying our yard. He has professionalism, honesty and integrity. I am highly recommending Solage Exterior if you want your landscape to be done properly. He is the best.

Solage Exteriors is a first-class landscaping company. The workers were always on time, friendly and courteous. Mr Luna was always available and able to set meetings that worked around our schedule. He provided updates on the job schedule and what part of the project they would be doing next. Mr Luna was able to modify the plan many times throughout the project to incorporate all our new ideas. We never had any arguements. Anything that needed to be fixed or redone was done to our satisfaction. Solage's excellent work and great attitude have earned them many jobs in our new neighborhood.

Steve, Fernando and his crew were great! Solage offered the best price of the three bids we obtained. But, pricing aside, I have recommended him to many neighbors due to their great follow-up. The crew were very accommodating of us during the construction phase and always cleaned up at the end of each day. Steve made adjustments to the plan for me within the construction phase, without making me feel like the pain that I can be. Since the end of construction, Steve has been quick to respond to any slight problems and has happily replaced the few plants that didn't "take." He responds to both email and voicemail, usually by the end of a work day. I would use them again in a second.

I just had work finished at my house from Solage Exteriors. They did a great job in a timely matter! My husband and I are 100% satisfied. I thought Mr. Luna was very knowledgeable and had a lot of unique and creative ideas that added beauty to our house. The workers were hardworking and polite. The biggest plus for us was how neat and clean the work was throughout the process. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing landscape work done.

Please ignore the ignorance of Philip and Karina. They are obviously compeditors planting negative posts. I live in Yorba Linda in the Amalfi Hills tract, Solage has done easily 25 plus houses here. I have yet to hear of an unsatified customer. My wife and I are very pleased with our yard. Steve is an honest professional contractor that I would recomend to a family member. If you ever call Steve for a bid, you'll see his professionalism first hand. Ask Steve for a list of the homes he's done in our tract, you'll be very happy with the results.
