Solid State Paving & Masonry in Somerset, Franklin Township, NJ
The aggressive owner of this business is John O’Brien, and John replaced our asphalt driveway on two consecutive days, 7/27 and 7/28/2023. Twenty days later, stones were already pulling up and out of the new driveway, leaving exposed soft tar behind. And large areas just look primarily like rough stones rather than a smooth tar driveway. It looked to us like something went wrong, but instead John argued with us. He is somewhat difficult to understand with an Irish accent, and has a non-English speaking team. When they left, they left exposed gravel on both sides of our new driveway, compacted old pieces of driveway that were fully buried into our grass, a long burn mark on the lawn, l extra tar on either side of the driveway, and they also wanted to leave an estimated 100-lb piece of old driveway behind.
John still has his 45-day-money-back guarantee on his company’s website, which has been worthless because John refuses to honor his own warranty. Three times he said he would come to our home with a full refund, and three times, he has been a no show. He has also provided several excuses related to personal finances and medical problems. As customers, we don’t appreciate being scammed by John O’Brien.
His paving with stones may be okay, but he appears to be a novice when it comes to working with asphalt.
He also claims to offer a 5-year warranty which may also be meaningless.
