We contracted with Sophie Keller of Somers Design Build LLC in Spring of 2019, after meeting with her in late 2018. We hired her as a general contractor for our long awaited shop construction. Shop construction was to begin mid summer 2019 and be completed October 1, 2019.
1. Did not return our calls. made excuses for not being able to discuss problems with our project.
2. She did not pay some subs, smearing our reputation, by telling them they would be paid, when we paid her. This was a total lie, as we had already issued payment and she had our money in hand to pay them.
3. She had excuses galore . from changing dates, to going over budget by 35K, for not being available to meet.. She had an answer for everything.
4. We had a lien placed on our house because of her non payment of a contractor.
5. We had to tell her more than once that we wanted copies of the invoices from the contactors. She was reluctant to provide them and only after we said ..." NO MORE CHECKS for you" until we could see the paperwork, did she relent.
We parted ways with her in June/July 2020 after an in person meeting, the first in 4 months, where she accused us of " haranguing her " when we were trying to discuss timing, money ( nonpayment of subs) and other excuses she regularly gave. ( We had a non biased person sit in on this meeting ) ? The shop was still not completed at the time of this last meeting.
Do not do business with this firm or person without talking with satisfied customers. We lost time, thousands of dollars, were subject to constant stress and aggravation because of her behavior
