It was a re-roof job using existing concrete tiles. I had to point out and had them fix unleveled tile, re-align and secure edging tiles. My regret is I that I did not complain about the 4 roof flashings that stick out like a sore thumb and are not normally find in a job like this. I have reached out to them to take a look at it but no response yet so I called up again. Customer service makes my blood pressure rise, wants you to speak to your contact person that had left their company. Seems like they do not want to hear your sad story and very eager to hung up on you. Work done is not even one year ago. Sorry to vent my frustration here.

If you choose Sonny Builders, lower your standards and expect to pay more than necessary. We selected Sonny Builders to extend a bedroom in our home (i.e., move a 10ft wall out 3 feet). The wall that was being moved required re-routing electrical wires and the door as well. The first day, our 2 contractors showed up an hour late and only tore down the wall. Over the next 2 weeks, the crew was consistently late (except when they came to pick up the check) and we had to constantly reach out to the project manager to get new estimates on arrival, but even his communication with his crew was inconsistent. This resulted in a rushed completion of the project the last 2 days. They had to come in on Saturday to finish up the work but not to the standard anyone who hires a contractor would expect. The quality of the finish work on the crown molding, paint, and the carpet repair were inferior to work we have had completed by other contractors.
On the crown molding, bevels were cut backwards, and they had frequent 1/4” gaps and misalignments where new pieces of crown molding were fit up to the existing pieces. This was at inside and outside corners, and the filler and paint job was inadequate to mask the shortcuts used (see pictures). I assumed that a company who does this kind of stuff for a living would put some care into it, but apparently not.
We were guaranteed BEFORE work started that the carpeting would look the same throughout. Unfortunately, this was also inaccurate (see pictures) and they could not even get the carpeting right. Due to the poor quality of the work, we re-did the carpet work ourselves. After ripping their repair up to redo it, we found that in addition to leaving some of the carpet nails exposed, one side of the carpet was left unsupported next to the tack strip so the seams were never going to come together evenly. All that was needed was a couple dollars more tack strip the first time and it would have looked fine.
We pointed out the crown molding and carpet repair issues to the main contractor when the work was “completed,” and his response was to shrug. No words, just a shrug. The next day (Sunday), the project manager showed up on time to pick up the check. We pointed out the issues and he made a point to correct us and tell us, “looks pretty good actually” and is “what it’s supposed to look like,” rather than any acknowledgement of concern. As you can see from the pictures, the work completed by Sonny Builders is poorly done. Another project manager showed up on Monday to take some pictures and agreed that the work was poorly done and “unacceptable” (her words), but didn’t bother to do anything about it either.
As a side note, the demolition of the wall went very smoothly; the wall they put up was solid, and generally, their crew seemed friendly. We knew we were going to be paying more for the job, but we were okay with it as it is a company with full licensing and benefits for workers, which is important, and they were jumping on this project quickly as they had a pause on another job nearby. I can also understand that repair work to a room may never look like new, but for what we paid, their work was not worth the value, given that getting it to look better is just a matter of some time and attention to detail. After estimating their hours spent on the job, and the material costs, they cost at least $90/hr for labor and overhead. I would recommend hiring anybody else to do finish work, or just do it yourself since it was not worth it for rushed workmanship that a DIYer could do better for less. It was by no means worth what we paid considering we are re-doing the work that should have been done correctly the first time. Do not expect quality workmanship from this company, you will be disappointed if you do. -

We started at the beginning of June and last Thursday it was completed and they passed the final inspection.
Our stress was mainly because of the expense and there was much more needed to be done than what we thought we will have to do to the garage in order to converted.

Sonny Builders did work on my house to try to fix flooding in my basement. The solution they came up with did not work and I had to pay another company to fix it later on. The company that fixed their botched work was a drainage specialist and was also much cheaper. Furthermore Arie, who sold me the bid for work lied to our face about asbestos in our walls and ended up tearing out a bunch of cabinets that didn't even need to be removed. We finally got them to agree to stop work on some of the contract but we would have never signed it if they didn't lie to us. Terrible company.
