We were taken for over 10k on an insurance renovation which ended when our insurance company told us they would no longer be able to pay for us to stay in a hotel. We were there for 6 weeks and the only thing completed from our contract was some drywall being placed. His communication was horrible, he would show up for a couple hours and leave with no evidence that he'd been there. He spread himself too thin between ours and another job and was using the money we gave him to pay for the other. We terminated our contract with him after he threatened to put a lien on our house if we didn't pay him an additional 10k. We tried to file a complaint with the licensing board but because he worded the termination letter we requested using the word "complete" they had to treat it as though we were satisfied with the work. Clearly that was intentional and left us with no kitchen or bathroom and no leg to stand on.
