    I strongly urge any prospective buyers to do their homework before working with Mr. Cavazos or purchasing a home from Southern Post Construction. Ask him to arrange a meeting with the most recent homeowners who purchased from him in 2023 and 2024. If he has truly delivered the high-quality homes he advertises, I’m sure no satisfied customer would hesitate to speak with you — but that kind of transparency has not been part of our experience.

    My wife and I first engaged with Mr. Cavazos in mid-August 2024 after relocating to McAllen. We were immediately drawn to the Spanish Oak subdivision and decided to purchase a home built and sold by Southern Post Construction. Unfortunately, when we moved in on November 27, 2024, we found ourselves living in a house that had issues. Since that day, it has been an ongoing, exhausting struggle to get Mr. Cavazos to follow through on his promises and complete the outstanding work.

    As of today, June 5, 2025 — more than six months later — we are still waiting on items that were reported to Mr. Cavazos prior to move-in. These issues fall squarely within the one-year warranty period required for new construction, yet they remain unresolved.

    Throughout this process, Mr. Cavazos has consistently shown a troubling pattern of deceitfulness, unprofessional behavior, and an unwillingness to take responsibility for his obligations. His failure to meet basic construction standards and his lack of communication and cooperation have turned what should have been an exciting experience into a major source of stress and frustration.

    What’s especially concerning is that he continues to actively build and sell homes within the same subdivision, potentially subjecting future buyers to the same disappointment and delay. While Mr. Cavazos may be a persuasive salesman, his priorities seem centered on maximizing profit — not delivering the high-end, quality homes that his marketing suggests.

    Let this review serve as both a warning and a call for accountability. Some homeowners hold high standards for the quality of our homes and the professionalism of the contractors who build them. Southern Post Construction has, unfortunately, not lived up to those expectations.
