Founded in 1985 by Dave Sylvester, Southface Construction Inc. is a family-run general contractor serving Oakland and the greater Bay Area. With over 35 years of experience, the company’s expertise is rooted in residential framing, room additions, and full-scale builds. Dave Sylvester began his career working alongside his father and later gained experience framing custom hillside homes in Santa Barbara before establishing Southface Construction in the East Bay. The company has contributed to many rebuilding projects, including framing homes in the Oakland hills following the firestorm. The team includes Dave’s son, Drew Sylvester, who serves as foreman and site supervisor, and Saul Cardenas, a foreman and finish carpenter with Southface since 2008. Southface Construction’s work reflects decades of experience with complex hillside construction, collaborations with long-standing subcontractors, and a hands-on approach to residential building projects.
