Im not one to write reviews, however in this case I feel an absolute obligation to tell the story of this company. Im not sure how they have a 5 star rating, I suspect the reviewers above have been planted and are friends or associates or people Tim Sowell goes to "Church" with.
Bottom line if you don't want to read this review in its entirety is: Don't walk, RUN. Do yourself a favor and take this advice, find another contractor.
These guys came out of the gate dishonest with me...It took me about 2 months or so to realize what a clown show I had gotten into. They promised they would do things in the initial walk through, then were very vague in the contract and when asked why a certain item was not taken care of, the owner becomes mad and says if it isn't in the contract, we aren't doing it. Constant delays, we went weeks and weeks without anything being done on the house, were told it would be ready by memorial day and it was finally finished in October.
They used unlicensed plumbers to do work on the house, didn't pull permits (And were caught in the end by me and Bay county) MULTIPLE TIMES did work on the house that was not in the original contract, then hit me with a change order that I had not approved. At the end of the job I was hit with a change order in the amount of 3000.00 for overage on plumbing work, They declared that they went 3k over the allowance...problem is, in the beginning they ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT SHOW ME A BREAKDOWN OF COSTS...even though i asked for my allowances MULTIPLE times. Which now makes sense...If the customer doesn't know what something costs, in the end you hit them with a change order, which they don't approve...THEN you tell the customer that he can not occupy the property until the certificate of occupancy/completion has been issued by the county, and the contractor wont apply for this certificate until you pay the money, on something that you didn't approve. After talking to the county, I learned this is a common thing this guy does. This is Also how he got caught not using a licensed plumber, nor did he have the required inspections done, which included Exterior dry in, interior electrical and plumbing. Quality of the work they do is on the level of a DIY...out of 8 plumbing fixtures they installed, 5 had leaks...the kitchen faucet actually popped off and sent a stream of water into the air, and the upstairs faucet leaked for a week onto the new vanity...which ruined the vanity. In addition to the above...if you hire these guys, expect things to go missing...in our case, I found a table and chairs in one of their workers trucks one day that they took off my back porch (they said they thought it was garbage) The Old appliances which I had stored in the garage and SPECIFICALLY told them I would be keeping the refrigerator, and donating the rest to habitat restore. The refrigerator and stove disappeared (after complaining and asking where it went, the refrigerator finally showed back up after about 3 weeks) never saw the stove again....And as we were finishing out the project, I had 4 full size mattress in boxes in the house...mysteriously, one disappeared. Only people in the house was myself and Sowells folks...and I'm pretty sure I didn't steal it from myself. They ended up paying for the mattress, but I had to take my time and go purchase a new one.
I'm pretty sure the owner will respond to this review...he became irate anytime I questioned his shady business practices, even though I never even met him in person. Just do yourself a favor, find someone else....I paid a 160K stupid tax on this colossal clown show...learn from my mistake. PS, only good guy that works for them is a fellow named Bob. The rest of this clown show should probably try and learn from Bob.
