By Donna I.December 24, 2020Install a standing seam metal roof over the existing roof.$22,500
Tim Sowell did a horrific job on my home.
Tim Sowell did not supervise this job at all. He was to install a standing seam metal roof. My roof was installed incorrectly and had to be removed. He insisted on using the previously installed and removed material. The metal was all bent up and scratched. After MONTHS he walked off the job. Mr Sowell took me for over 22,000$. Beware. My home was damaged severely from his incompetence. -

Tim Sowell has been great to work with. He respects your time, your ideas, and makes sure he does everything possible to make the customer happy. His price was fair and his work excellent. We ran into a lot of unforeseen issues with the roof (built in the 60s) and he took care of all of them, kept his crew on the job until we were completely happy. We initially used Sowell Roofing for replacing an ancient skylight in our primary residence and he did such a great job at a fair price that we used him to tackle a rental house roof (the 60s house) and so glad we did with all the problems encountered due to age an unforeseen issues. Tim exceeded my expectations and am sure I'll be using his services again and would highly recommend him to my friends.

Sowell did the job adequately, once the weather cooperated. It did take a while for them to actually get started. I also had them install gutters, which required them to come back and add more screws & downspouts. I guess I'm from up north & expecting faster work & better craftsmanship.

Tim Sowell Roofing completely destroyed my home. I hired him to put on a new roof July, 2015. My roof was 20 years old and I decided to replace it. I had no leaks and my ceilings were perfect. Now I have leaks in every room in my home. My entire ceilings need to be repainted and some drywall work in my kitchen. He brought his crew to my house (a small patio) home and it took them about 10 days to complete the roof. The crew left for a weekend and that weekend it rained. I got huge leaks that go across my room in the kitchen, bedroom, living room. Then after they finished I continued to get leaks. I have over a dozen leaks all over my house. I am in the process of bringing him before the competency board. I've had numerous roofers come out and look at my roof and take pictures for me. The roof is so bad that you can even see his sloppy work just standing on the ground before you even get up on the roof. I have shingles sticking out about 5-8 inches over the side of my roof. The roof itself looks lumpy because they did not nail the shingles down correctly. He used shingles that had half the pebbles worn off (probably from an old job) He bent my easement in the front of my house. One roofer climbed up the latter and the first thing he did was pull a shingle out that wasn't even nailed down at all. My vent wasn't nailed down. There were numerous other mistakes but I'm not articulate when it comes to using the vocabulary of construction. I'm a woman and I've never worked in constructions, but the roofers that looked at it named many serious problems. The problems he caused leave the company that make the shingles (owens corning) to refuse to warranty their product. He also tried to fix the problem by bringing some guy to my home with a bottle of pure bleach and spray it all over my home where these giant leaks were. He said "it smells to strong in here so we're leaving and we'll be back this afternoon" after they left I noticed his helper had ruined my bedding because the bleach just dripped down on my bed stripping the color out of my bedding. I called him and told him he left me and my dog in a toxic house and he and his buddy were not welcome back in my home. He had caused me enough damage. The competency board will meed on Oct. 7. They need to pull his license. He had the audacity to put a lien on my home. I need a whole new roof and now I also have to repair my ceilings all over my house. He is as crooked as they come. The men he had working on my roof didn't know what they were doing at all. Many of the roofers commented that this was the worst roof job they have ever seen. At this point I would be more protected if my 20yr old roof was on rather that this new one he had installed. Completely unprofessional. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I have many other photos. There is about 10 inches of roof that one roofer noticed that could be just lifted up. There was no tar - nothing. The roof was just loose. Nails exposed and some nailed too far into the shingle. The shingles were not nailed in the right place to include both layers - that also voids the contract and voids the warranty with Owens Corning. There were even some shingles that didn't even match the other shingles (probably used) There are just too many mistakes to mention. I'm just waiting to get this all cleared up so I can get another roof put on, but in the meantime my house is unprotected and could sustain even more damage. It's unbelievable he could even place a lien against my home because he did nothing to improve my property; in fact, what he did created a de-valuing of my home. smh. This has been so stressful that I started having panic attacks again.
