We engaged Jamie Sowlakis for a renovation / joining 2 apartments project which ran from Mid 2016 to March 2017. It was a complex project with the combination of 2 apartments, plus acquisition of the landing / hallway, and included installation of new windows throughout the apartment, as well as a full aircon system, along with new flooring. Overall we have been exceptionally impressed with every aspect of the work done, with specific mention of the following:
1. Cost & Timing - Most of these type of projects can over-run. This did not run over and finished on the date which was promised! Equally, this was delivered On budget, with only fully authorized Change Orders. This meant we could budget accurately throughout the project. They were not the cheapest we looked at but certainly delivered value for money in our opinion.
2. Quality - The quality of the finishes are exceptional, and no detail was overlooked. Jamie works with Cortland Contracting and Paul Hartigan. The team there have been meticulous throughout, never cutting corners or compromising on quality at any stage. Whenever there was an option, they gave us choices fully costed, enabling us to make decisions easily. Every visitor has commented on the quality of the finishes, in particular the flooring. Indeed based on the quality of the work, the team was also given our Building lobby as a secondary project to work on which is now complete.
3. Added value - Jamie & Paul had a number of ideas which significantly enhanced value, from using the opportunity to create a media cabinet, install a full Sonos system as well as wiring the apartment fully, something that would have cost substantially more had this not been done during the renovation period. Equally the use of glass to create increased light in otherwise low light areas, relocating stairs and , changing the
4. People - The people working on the project were wonderful to work with, always positive, helpful, welcoming and full of positive energy. Whenever we visited we were always given great updates and felt very involved along the way, plus if we did not like something, this was quickly rectified on site.
5. Follow up - The "punch-list" has continued for a while since we moved back in, as you don't always see / discover everything on day1 back in the apartment. Coming back to fix stuff has not been an issue, and always done to the same standard with the same smile on their faces!
I would happily recommend the team, and indeed if I had another similar project I would not hesitate to use the team once again.
