This company is absolutely terrible they said 6 to 8 weeks to complete my pole barn it has been 6 months. The quality of work they do is absolutely terrible. They failed the framing and sheeting inspection 4 times. The inspector even drug my girlfriend around and showed her all the terrible quality issues which we we’re already aware of. They have completely ruined an experience that was suppose to be exciting and fun. Don’t hire these people unless you enjoy frustration and disappointment.

Whatever you do, don’t use this company for your project! There communication and craftsmanship have been horrible.
We hired Spartan builders to put up our pole barn (36)x(40) we got excuse after excuse on timing delays. When putting up the pole barn there were many corners cut. If you need pictures feel free to message me. They failed the rough frame because they couldn’t follow the engineered plans correctly and had to have the engineer get involved for the fixes. They are demanding payment and the county hasn’t signed off the rough frame yet.
They also dropped a truss on my vintage Vespa and destroyed it. Took over a month to get a claim number from them. A horrible experience and it’s not over just yet.Response from Spartan Builders LLC July 26, 2022Hi Billie, while we do pride ourselves in a quick turn around with building our projects, we are glad to have 99% of our customers understand that with the announcement of COVID in 2020, losing employees, sickness with crews, and constant production delays were inevitable during the course of your project in 2020. We are, though, so happy to have completed all jobs, including yours, with a passed final inspection during this time regardless of the struggles we all had to overcome. Spartan does call all inspections to guarantee that our homeowners are reassured with getting a pass framing and pass final inspection, corrections needed or not, as we did with your barn. As we receive corrections or concerns during these inspections, we will fix and address them, and we also have a one-year carpentry warranty on all our barns to ensure that our homeowners receive addressed corrections moving forward. Our contracts also have a section listed where all our homeowners are required to clear their job sites of precious belongings, so we have a clear job site to prevent any issues like damaging precious vespas. Although we do have an agreement that our homeowners sign stating they take the responsibility to clear their sites, Spartan was and is fully insured and licensed and was able to provide reimbursement and coverage for you and for the damages created to that precious belonging placed within our build zone. Spartan takes pride in finding customers that are capable of following our guidelines and contract agreements. We appreciate your response bringing up challenges with your project as this has helped Spartans enlist programs like interviewing our customers prior to signing contracts with them to make sure they too can follow our guidelines to keep everyone on the same page with expectations, safety, and production timelines.

Run.. run away as fast as you can – in other words just don't us Spartan.... if you do decide to move forward with them, here is an opinion and some point by point protective hints…….
Make sure to review the contract closely. Know the Terms and Conditions. Caution notes:
• Know that their contract requires advance payment, prior to performance in many areas – so you are hoping that do the work, rather than paying for work completed. Option = demand weekly or monthly draws based on work completed and make sure to get lien wavers for labor and materials. They took $49,000 from us for Materials and then never purchased anything other than some lumber and concrete (valued at +/- $15,000) – the rest of the money disappeared.
• Poor communication and follow-up is an issue here, you might want to consider finding somebody that is construction savvy to review terms and conditions and to manage the process with Spartan.
• Get all terms defined clearly (framing to them was sticks up and rough door openings, but not OSB/Plywood panels/sheathing in place. This is important as it triggers a payment request.
• Demand Receipts and Liean Releases - We could not get any proof of orders or deposit being made by them. The asked for the 2nd major draw (Another $40k) once they felt framing was done. , this before any of the first (Materials) funds release had been used to purchase doors, siding, roofing, etc. OR just buy the materials on your own and hire them for labor only.
• Positives: CJ, (Brianna’s husband??) when on site, is professional and does good work. The framing crew was efficient, good and fast. Brianna is charming while selling the job and then turns into something else.
• Brianna does not communicate well after the sale is made and you provide a deposit. We would suggest that as a buyer you work on weekly draws based on completed work.
• They did not have 100% grasp of Douglas County Zoning rules, which may have been a reasonable oversight, but caused even more turmoil for project management.
• Demands for proof of materials purchases went unanswered
• No lien releases were provided when required or requested.
Note: These may seem like small issues, but when work isn’t done and you have $10’s of thousands sitting with them, these small issues become grave concerns and outright fear.
• We had to terminate them for breach – mainly based on tons of deposits for materials – when in fact those materials were not on order, paid for, or deposits on order by them to vendors. Means they took $40k and used it elsewhere or ????
• Suggest that you pay for materials once you see a receipt and shipping address directed toward your site OR better yet, cut checks to the vendors directly not Spartan and protect yourself.
