We contracted with Spectrum Shade to complete our backyard pergola. I cannot say enough good things about Bruce and his team. Not only does the structure look amazing, the work was done with incredible care and proficiency. The install team was top notice. Throughout the ordering, product procurement, and installation steps, Bruce was in contact with me to keep me updated on the status of things. Highly recommend Spectrum Shade for your backyard pergola shade structure build.

It was a pleasure to work Spectrum Shade. Bruce Woodmansee, the sales guy, was attentive, a good communicator and worked hard with his coordinator and line staff to do a super fast turn around from the time I ordered until the time they completed the build of my new roof. They not only replaced a worn out motor (worked well for 15 years) from my old roof, but also rewired the new and old roofs together to work on electricity powered by a remote for each. A testament to the quality of their product is that the new roof installed matches the one I installed almost 15 years ago with almost no signs of paint color change or wear.
The coordinator, Quinton, is an asset to the company. He has tons of experience in many related fields, answers questions completely, engendered confidence in this skeptical customer. He says what he is going to do and does it without forgetting a thing, down to the smallest detail. His line staff put in very long days to get the job done and cleaned up on a tight schedule. I cannot say enough about the skill, attention and kindness of the staff of this company and the quality of the product. I would recommend this company to anyone considering a lasting, beautiful shade solution in this hot Arizona climate.

UPDATE TO 10/14/18 review. In 2018 I had the same communication problem as Barbara D wrote on 4/2/2021 and both of us gave 1 star. A few days ago, after many frustrations, I finally phoned Equinox itself and spoke to a wonderful lady who contacted Quinton Jensen at Spectrum Shade. He came out in a timely manner and was polite and knowledgeable. Quinton was definitely a "5" but the difficulty I had directly reaching anyone there reduced the overall score to 3 stars. Let's hope Spectrum Shade is finally getting its act together.

April 2019 Spectrum Shade installed a 10x10 Lattice Pergola. I have no complaints with the price or installation. I was very pleased with the installation.
On 9/8/2020 a windy rain storm came through in the afternoon. My neighbor's trampoline flew over the wall into the pergola. I did not go through my Homeowners Insurance because the neighbor said he would pay for the damage and actually knows Bruce. I called Bruce and had no response. My pool service man was having work done by Bruce and was able to get him to come and look at the damage on 11/13/20. Bruce said due to Covid lockdown it was hard getting parts but that he had spares in his backyard and said he could use them to replace the two top pieces and bang in the bent area. And it would not be that expensive. Well it's 8/2/21 and Bruce does not respond to emails or phone messages. Last week I advised through email and voice mail that I was now going to file a complaint with AZROC in the hopes I would get a response. Sadly, no response.
So I am now forced to send in a complaint to AZROC hoping to have this situation rectified. Reading the above reviews it seems if you get Bruce for an initial install you will be satisfied. But forget once install completed. I am sorry if he is having family issues but this is not way to treat customers.
I caution anyone considering Spectrum Shade. Customer Satisfaction after install stincks.

ORIGINAL REVIEW. I am having the same experience as Linda S. During the project, they were very slow to respond to any type of communication, but now that the project is completed apart from a minor problem that needs to be fixed, there is no response at all to phone calls leaving voice messages, text messages and email. This has been going on for weeks.
UPDATE MARCH 11, 2020
(RATING SHOULD CHANGE FROM ONE STAR TO THREE, BUT BUILDZOOM DOES NOT SEEM TO ALLOW THIS.) Someone at BuildZoom finally acted and increased the overall star rating to three stars.****** This now needs to be increased to four stars following completion of the second project; see 11 JUNE 2020 UPDATE BELOW. ******

Eventually, Bruce Woodmansee spoke with me by phone. He explained that he had a very difficult family situation, which I was very sympathetic to. Based on this phone call, I have upgraded the rating from one star to three. (Without the response problems, the rating would have been five stars, as Spectrum Shade is very knowledgeable on rotating louvers.)
However, he could have taken a lot of stress off himself, and saved his customers a lot of time and frustration, if he had put a brief explanation of the situation in any of these places:
* On the website
* In the greeting message for his phone numbers
* In the "out-of-office" message for his email addressesHopefully he now has a contingency plan to do this should he ever again be in a situation where he cannot respond to customers for an extended time.
Trusting that response problems would no longer be an issue, I selected Spectrum Shade for an even larger rotating louver patio roof project, since they have good rotating louver expertise. I will provide a separate review for this.
UPDATE 11 JUNE 2020
Review for second rotating louver project noted above.
There were no response problems on this project, and, as expected, we were very pleased with the work. This project rated separately would get five stars, and the overall star rating for both projects now goes up from three stars to four. I am unable to make this change, but I have noted it near the head of the review, and sent an email to BuildZoom asking them to make it.

Pretty good service installing solar-powered lattice but absolutely terrible when it comes to repairs. I have not been able to get in touch with anyone for many weeks (e-mails, phone calls, etc.), and with all the rain we have had this has been very upsetting. I would not recommend this company because of its lack of response should anything go wrong with its expensive product line.

We had them build a patio and their service was great. They built a wonderful patio and deliver ahead of schedule. Their crew was respectful, precise, and friendly.
Update on 3/17/21. We love our roof so much we had them come back an build another one. The first one was attached this new one is freestanding in our back yard. We have only had them out to service our first roof only once in the last 5 years. They were prompt and courteous when they came to do the repair. It ended up that it was just a battery in the remote and instead of charging me any service call fee, they installed the new battery and told me not to worry about paying for the service charge. So nice and refreshing to have a good company like Spectrum Shade.

ADJUSTABLE LOUVER PATIO ROOF INSTALL
Normally I do not write reviews but I have to write this one. I am so impressed with Spectrum Shade and the professionalism and care that they take. Starting with the day I called them on the phone, they were so nice and pleasant to deal with. The employees appear to love their jobs and their company.
We had Spectrum come give us an in-home consultation. Bruce was courteous, friendly, and patient with all of our questions for several hours. He took the time to modify the design several times as we tried to figure out exactly we wanted. He is not pushy. You just know he cares about what you want and REALLY listens to what you say. He is super knowledgeable and creative. We had several other companies come give us quotes and the sales person was there for like 15 minutes measuring and taking photos and then they left. We tried to ask questions about design, materials, etc but you can tell both other company sales people just wanted to make the sale and get their commision check. Other companies just show up and then want to email you the quote. Spectrum was not this way. They spent about an hour with us on the phone during the initial call. Then Bruce spent several hours with us in person. Then after we signed the contract and starting moving forward, he promptly replied and answered all questions we had throughout the process.
When the employees showed to install, they were ALWAYS so friendly and kind. They were usually smiling and happy to be on the jobsite. They texted each day to let us know they were on the way so we could put our dogs inside. They worked hard and cleaned up super well each day. This was all in 110 degree heat. So impressive. We also decided to change to larger posts during the project. They did not argue or complain. They just made a call, give us the price difference and 2 hours later another employee delivered the materials to the jobsite.
I was so nervous doing a project this size but Spectrum Shade made it so easy, seamless, and efficient. The finished product is absolutely beautiful and super heavy duty and durable. Sooo happy and grateful for good companies like Spectrum who seem to love what they do and do a great job at it. 5+ Stars!
