We gave Ty at Chontas Roofing a check for $14,500.00, 17 weeks ago and they still have not completed the process to file for a permit. I’m 86 years old, just wanting a carport and shed! STAY AWAY!!

Chontas Roofing Inc is a roofer I trust. The staff and workers were great. Had them put on a roof last July. And their boys did it within 3 days. Our house is in Heathrow so we had to go with one of the best. One of the best things is they charged for the job not the community I live in. This is our 2nd house and maybe our forever home I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else with the job.

I would not recommend this company. While the work they provided is fine, the customer service is non-existent. My home is in NSB and my insurance company requires a Certificate of Completion from the township to be submitted to receive my reimbursement. Only the roofing contact may pick up this piece of paper from the township. I have tried unsuccessfully to have this done now since the end of April. Ryan keeps promising they will get it to me ASAP---but NOTHING. I didn't know this paper was necessary till after I had paid Chontas---or I would not have made the last payment till I had the certificate. E. Skouras

My experience with this company was far less than optimal. We planned the job months in advance only to have Larry request a date change due to the holidays and the potential availability of extra supplies or county inspection...fair enough. We changed the date and began the project. Particularly disappointing was the fact that there was no supervisor to get the job started on a good note. There was a "senior" person in charge, but no direct and involved supervision. I ended up getting on the roof to supervise and when the supervisor did arrive, he did not know how to supervise. The crew was fast but sloppy. The crew, despite being told not to lay cuttings "tar side down", did so anyway leaving black marks and removing some aggregate from the roof. The valleys were barely overlapped to standard and the shingles at the ridges were not cut properly on one half resulting in scabbing pieces in before the ridge cover was put in place and reinforcing the scabbing with adhesive. If I had not been on the roof, I would not have been able to stop the "snake" that was forming in the longest run of shingles. The crew had to tear up more than 10 shingles to correct the problem; there was no supervisor available. Larry was hard to reach most of the time. The "after" service is even worse. Larry does not return phone calls and does not seem to provide meaningful remedial action with his crews (they threw away one square of shingles). Larry's quote included a wind mitigation inspection. The job was complete on 27 December 17 and still on 24 January 18, I am chasing Larry to schedule the wind mitigation inspection that he "promised" to call me about several times. I provided Larry a scoresheet for the job and was generous in a C+. If you are not on the roof (I am a licensed home inspector in FL), you will not know what is really happening on the roof. Best check some other places first... this company is a good last choice in my opinion. They really need to develop their management team and their follow through. There was something that needed attention; I called Larry and he told me that someone had been out. I went on the roof to discover that no-one had been to fix the issue...there was no feedback from the crew...Larry just assumed it had been done and did not send a supervisor to check. Amazingly poor!

I was extremely impressed with the planning, old roof removable and the installation of the new roof. Larry Sanders stayed in touch with me during the entire process. I have even been approached by three of my neighbors, who had recently had new roofs installed. They were very impressed with the quality of the roof and it's appearance. Thank you very much.

We live in a 55+ community in Punta Gorda, after Hurricane Ian we 'contracted' with Ty Porter for our repairs. It has been a horrible experience. We have gone for over a month with ZERO response. We cant get a person to answer when we call the office for guidance. They have had our deposit since March 2023, and we still do not even have materials dropped off. We have heard so many unbelievable stories as to why they can't get materials dropped off. We are left without money, without repairs, and without any contact from this company. When we use the term 'we', it not only is for my husband and myself, but also for the other 12-15 residents in our community. Each story is sadly a different story, with the same story teller: deposits made, promise of work made, no contact, no hope - it is truly feeling like thievery under the circumstances.
