  My wife and I have built 4 homes with Stacy Construction and we will build our next with them as well (when she tells me she wants one). As with any homebuilder there are many layers of details you have to go through to end up with what you want at the end and this homebuilder will go through those layers with you and make them come out in the end the way you want even in the past couple of years with COVID and all the industry (world wide) product issues etc. the process was managed well and explained in detail what the process was and all our homes have turned out well done. We have always had prompt return calls or if there is anything of warranty the process is clear, documented and the appropriate response happened with the appropriate people and the character hard work with integrity they provide we would highly recommend using this company. We originally talked with their subcontractors, homeowners, title companies etc. as well as live around many Stacy Construction homes all are solidly built and homeowners are very happy with the work. NO company is perfect but we feel they strive to constantly build superior homes and respond to any questions or needed details asked of them.

  New Home Build

  We would NOT recommend anyone build with Stacy Construction. Our experience was aggravating, disappointing and the worst we could have imagined for building our new home.

  Ask for referrals. Have your agent contact prior buyers’ agents. You will quickly find we are not the only ones with this story.

  In short, BEWARE! He is a very good salesman. He makes it all sound very, very good. Your dream home. Dream lot. Anything you want. Within your budget. And then…

  To start, we were told it would be a four to five month build and we didn’t end up moving in until six months later than expected. We were encouraged to take a construction loan out, which took away any and all motivation for Stacy to finish our home. The process took almost an entire year. Meanwhile, we made expensive loan interest and property tax payments while we waited in an apartment, paying for storage on all of our belongings.

  Communication and organization were the worst. There would be weeks when we couldn’t get a response at all, and there was always a reason; the email was down, the voicemail was down, the mail wasn’t being delivered, etc. There was rarely ever supervision on site for subs. Mistakes were made and fixes were made begrudgingly. We struggled to get plans, prices, updates, any information at all. We had to ask multiple times for everything.

  We ended up having to pay $56k over our purchase price when Stacy came to us at the very end of the build with COs and refused to provide invoices for the overages. In the end, being threatened with losing the property with all of our money invested in it, we were forced to pay. We were left with landscaping to finish with our own money, and other items such as shower doors and carpet to install, that were never completed.

  If we had it to do again, we would tell ourselves, and everyone who asks us going forward, there are plenty of other lots, good and honest builders to be found, and a process that can be easy, reasonably paced and leave us with peace of mind.
