Previously things had been fine. Mark is an electrician by trade and most of his jobs are subbed out.
I hired Mark Staffin for a job in January 2020-the job easily should have taken 3 months top. One year and 3 months later the project is undone. $40,000 later he has ceased all communication. I waited patiently since my last $17,000 payment in July 2020. EVERY week I was presented with an excuse. I had never heard so many excuses in my life. I am not sure where in America a person can receive pay and spin customers with excuses (Covid , a pending lawsuit with another customer, bad weather, sick family, working on his own project, snow, sick workers, lumber shortages due to COVID-then potentially his own un-diagnosed Covid scare{he sent me the negative results!}) I could go on and on) I would have to initiate contact at EVERY LEVEL. Recently I left one hundred messages and received zero return calls or text. I had doubts for many months. My professional opinion is there must be a substance abuse issue or MH/BH issues due primarily to the swift change in behavior and lack of empathy or concern for consequences. Most "normal" life events don't lead professionals to a total disregard for your business, work ethic, reputation, or customer plight.
Work itself: Adequate -When you can get him to the worksite!! There is little follow up or concern for the customer situation. I lived without doors and windows for an entire winter season. I complained about drafts, heating expenses etc. I had to be the squeaky wheel and a few things were completed. In nine months since my last payment I can count the small progress made. There were 2 and 3 months lulls in any work activity but I kept the faith as he had done some work for me previously and presents as a pretty nice guy for whatever that's worth. I suffered a fire and had told him of previously difficulty which yielded a promise to do a great job and not increase or repeat the trauma that had already been experienced.
Work Ethic: POOR. Buyer beware!
