Philip has done two renovations for us and we are exceedingly pleased. He comes up with inovative ideas and is always mindful of spending wisely. He is most pleasant in his interactions and cleans as he goes. He never left our home in a state that was more messy than absolutely necessary to accomplish the necessary work.
In addition, he checks back with us frequently to assure we are still please and have no unexpected issues. We find him to be a man with skill and character.

When interviewing contractors to put an addition on my home, I stumbled upon Philip and Sterling Works. I haven't looked back since. Philip spent a lot of time talking to me before we even signed on the dotted line and has kept me informed all along the way. He's personable and knows his industry. His bid on the project came in right where I needed it and there have not been many surprises.
The crews that he has are all very friendly and polite and appear to do quality work. You don't realize until you get into this kind of project how vital it is that you really trust the person doing this, and I can say, without hesitation, that I trust the work that Philip is doing and would hire him again.

Sterling Works has recently completed some small to moderate renovation jobs for us as we prepare our older home to go on the market. Philip and his team have been a true pleasure to work with. He came in and helped me assess what we were trying to accomplish - even going so far as to talk us out of some of the work we were contemplating counseling that certain things I was looking at were not really in his experience 'red flags' for buyers.
How many times can you say you have gotten that level of guidance from a professional contractor - my experience in the past has been more around them 'upselling you on the scope'. I found that approach very refreshing.
Once we had our list of projects, I was promptly given a quote for the work. All the work commenced and completed as scheduled - was completed with great care and attention to detail - and the ultimate cost was exactly what the original bid had been. No low ball bid only to be told "well it was just more involved than we thought - you know these old houses.....".
I can not recommend Philip and his team more highly - a pleasure to work with and all I saw was the highest of ethics.

Philip put me completely at ease and explained exactly how the job would go. The work was excellent and the price was very fair. I would highly recommend Sterling Works.

Last year, 2012, Philip Trapkin and Sterling Works, "rescued us" during a move-in and remodel of our newly purchased home. Our original big name, Angie's List rated contractor showed up three days out of three weeks so, needless to say, we let them go. We immediately contacted Philip, whom we had worked with on our previous home on many projects. He helped us out of a mess. They worked every day during the week until the project was completed and did a beautiful job. Originally, we selected a larger contracting company to do the work because we had a small time within which to complete the project.
My lesson learned through the whole experience is Steerling Works can do what the big box contractors can do and can also do smaller home projects in the time agreed and always within budget. His work is top of the line and he is a pleasure to work with. Sterling Works even corrected the mess the other contractor created in the few days they showed up to work.
Projects and work completed over the years for us by Sterling Works in two homes include hanging and mudding sheetrock, installing and correcting shower plumbing (so important), upgrading our attic to hold and support storage, repaired retainer walls outside our home (beautiful job), stained and hung our front door, roof leak repair. SW has mounted window baskets on the second level of our home and changed out light fixtures and brought our wrought-iron table and chairs back to life. This is just a sample of their work.
They are the company I call for any home project, small or large.
