DON’T EVER USE STEVE WILLIAMS CONSTRUCTION! DESPICABLE!
This is a long review, but please read it all. We used Steve Williams Construction twice during my home renovation project. The first time was a good experience with no issues. The second time was a completely different story leading to this review.
I requested they bring me a load of crush n’ run. They were more expensive than my regular gravel guy, but I was in a pinch. I made it clear I had to return my skid steer and I had no way to spread it. I made it clear he needed to spread it for me on the driveway as they dumped it and this is a normal request as I have asked others to do it in the past. His spreading was more like deep piles in various spots on the driveway, so deep I couldn’t get my car up the driveway, up to 12 inches deep.
Although I was upset about the poor job at spreading, I understand people aren’t perfect. What happens after this is the worst part. I called the dispatcher and explained the problem, but he was completely unwilling to help. I asked him to at least hold the check I had written until we could figure out how to rectify this, to which he agreed. Over the next five days, I attempted to find my own way to spread the gravel, sending the dispatcher messages every day or two again asking him to continue holding the check. There was no response or any offer to help or correct their mistake. The day after my last text to him updating him and asking him to continue holding the check, I noticed the check had posted to my bank account.
My wife was understandably upset the check had been cashed and that they were not responding to my messages. She decided to make a trip to their office to speak to someone in person. Upon arriving at the office the door was locked. This was a hot, humid, sunny day in late June with temperatures in the 90’s. My wife, and my two young kids, waited outside for someone to come to the door. When someone finally did, they listened to her problem, then retreated inside to the air conditioning leaving my wife outside baking in the sun while they researched the problem even though there was room inside for them to wait. Some time later, she came back out and stated there was never any instruction to hold the check! She said someone would be out to speak with her, and again retreated inside leaving my family outside in the heat. Finally, someone came out. She explained the problem again, but she got no help from him either. He was rude, arrogant, condescending and remorseless. He took absolutely no responsibility for what had happened and gave no sympathy for our plight. In fact, he dared my wife to leave bad reviews and encouraged her to submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
No one, during this time, did anyone ask what they could do to make it right. No offer to help, no offer for a refund, or even a partial refund. This experience involved not one, not two, not three, but four different unprofessional employees! Again, I understand one employee with a chip on their shoulder, but four unprofessional employees point to an entirely unprofessional culture. Their behavior and customer service was absolutely despicable!
