    paint

We hired Steven Shealy to paint our kitchen cabinets which was a very dark color, almost black. He painted them white and did an excellent job. They look better than if they came from the factory. I would definitely hire him again. Also, we like the fact that he showed up when he said and did what he said.

Steven Shealy was hired by my wife & I to paint our deck August 2014. He convinced us Home Depot had the latest paint with an extensive warranty. It did not hold up & after 2 years it had mostly come off the deck. He even couldn't believe what he saw when, after several requests finally came out & saw it. He admitted it was not holding up & went to Home Depot who agreed to resupply the paint. After he put us off for several weeks with statements Iabout awaiting pollen to subside, which it already had, then that he was trying to get Home Depot to come to my home in his effort to get his labor costs paid by them since he would have to repaint the deck. This is something they do not do & he finally said so. He set up Apr 16 or 17 to do the painting if weather permitted. He also said he would spray paint the deck floor. Originally we had him not paint the vertical pieces leading from the floor of the deck to the railing surrounding the deck. I asked him how he would be able to keep paint off them since he said he was planning on spraying instead of using a brush. He said I was worrying too much & wouldn't discuss it but being that I had a reasonable question & since it is my house I had the right to know his plan of painting different from the first time. When my wife returned home from working a project out of town she sent him a text about keeping to be sure to keep paint off the siding of the house & that part of the deck we did not want painted. He responded that we were crazy & he would not do any further painting. He even invited us to sue him which we will have to pursue. Shealy does not stand behind his work & is temperamental & hard to work with. I would not have hired him had I known how he fails to keep his word & not stand behind his work. He is impossible to deal with when there is an issue such as the one we faced. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy if I had one! I checked with the South Carolina Builders Commission who told me his license had expired in 2011!
