I hired this contractor based on the recommendation of a co-worker. MISTAKE. While the work was being done, everything was ok. His estimates were good and the work was done in a timely manner. After the work was done and he had been paid, though, the problems came to light. The new roof I hired him to install started leaking a few months later. He sent some guys to install new flashing (which I had paid to have done originally. They did a very messy job AND it leaked, again.
In addition to the roof, I had a front door that would not close properly - have to really slam it to get it completely closed. He said he could not fix it - that it needed to be replaced. I believed him and paid for the new door and installation, as well as for new door hardware. The day the door was installed the doorknob actually fell off in my hand! He was not happy to have to come back to fix that. Even worse is the fact that the new door will not close properly, either - have to bump it hard below the knob to get it completely shut - same as with the old door...
He was also hired to replace the windows in my house. Although anything would have been better than what I had, the ones he installed are bottom-of-the-line (and what I paid should have covered something better). The worst part, though, is that a few months after they were put in I started seeing DAYLIGHT around the windows! There was not insulation or trim around them and I could actually see outside! He came back when I called and "fixed" them, but the same thing happened again several months later. He would not answer my calls, and the only reply I got when I texted him saying I needed to talk to him was "What is it this time?" I answered, but after that he would not acknowledge me texts (or e-mails) at all.
He is friendly and seems to be trustworthy, but the work is shoddy and he does not stand by it. Do not hire this contractor.
