Steven Labossiere
Absolutely not. He was hired to paint and seal front walkway, driveway and rear patio area. The front walkway having been damanged from winter weather. Upon the new concrete being poured and cured Steve was to begin work. It was to be completed inside of 10 days while I was away, and areas free of use. Returning on the 11th day the work still was not completed. He worked quickly that day to complete (leaving extra paint, and patio items to be returned to original spot upon drying). Initially it looked o.k. just a dull color, but I was told it was sealed. While the rear patio area has an awning that opens and closes, it is sealed against pouring rain. The first hard rain left huge waterspots and stains on the patio. I called Steve and asked him to inspect as it appeared to be flaking in spots. When he showed up he brought the owner of the local paint store (where he purchased his supplies). The owner never spoke to me. Steve produced a final invoice that he said he gave me which limited the guarantee (with a whole bunch of disclaimers). I took one look at it, and knew I had never seen it, or signed it. The guarantee he gave me was for 5 years (and we are within 6 months of him having completed the work).. I told him I didn't appreciate a bait and switch on the guarantee or him trying to remove himself from any responsibility. This entire project cost me $1400.00. I did tell him if he wouldn't stand behind his guarantee and fix this I'd see him in court. He said if I got the drainage away from the patio completed, he'd come back and do the patio over. I have since had this done. I've contacted him this has been done and I have heard nothing. Today I had a neighbor stop by having seen my complaint against this contractor, and she's complaining about an inside paint job he did which was most unsatisfactory. Another vendor said he begged him to correct a door painting job that he'd messed up. I should have checked references first. I allowed the fact I saw his driveway at his home and it looked great. This I allowed to color my judgement, along with his mom being a fellow Red Hatter at the time. I have since had estimates of what it will take to rectify this job. I will notify Steve's Paint N Stain in writing (certified letter) and attempt to get satisfaction. Legal action will be my last resort. I am hoping he will correct this or reimburse me what it will cost to correct his mistakes. As of this moment, I would NOT recommend him for any future work. It just goes to show anyone can hang a shingle.
