CAUTION:
Nikolas Stanovic, CEO, will not accept responsibility for damage created by his organization, his flawed executive decision making, or damage to my property due to carelessness and sloppy workmanship.
Everything is fine UNTIL he has to assume liability for abject disregard of clients property damage he causes. Then he will claim he is not a General Contractor, so he is not obligated to correct his mistakes, because he is not subject to NYS GC Liability Law. All his ads say he is a General Contractor, presents himself as General Contractor, and if he makes a mistake and/or damages property, he isn't a General Contractor so he doesn't have to take responsibility for his misrepresentation.
Then he claims he is a Home Improvement Contractor .
Home improvement contractors ensure that the project meets all codes and regulations and obtain the proper building permits before beginning. He didn't even do this, as he did not take out a 10 point permit as required when installing electrical upgrade at over 10 points (outlets. That is his license, however; he is General Contractor, and functions as such. Will talk a good game, stating his outstanding ratings and that work is second to none to gain confidence and justify exorbitant pricing.
He told me he has been doing this field of work for several years.
In business for several years and only 30 “Five Star “reviews??? Not impressive.
His negligence and believing his lies cost me $24,845.00
Am in a position to fix his errors, and complete all his unfinished work (for which he was paid in full for 5 months ago). Others will not be so fortunate, and it is for them that I write this, in the interest of due diligence and public service.
I ask that anyone reading this shop around-don't use a General Contractor unless you are building something from the ground up.
Best bet is to hire individual taskers for each job; and not go through an unscrupulous, dishonest contractor.Contractor will make verbal agreements and oral contracts stating services that are included, even though they are not in the contract, or invoice. Then refuses, stating they were not in writing. If you choose to proceed, get every little detail in writing, and only believe him if it is in writing. If he objects… ask yourself why?
You already have the answer. After receiving payment in full, the contractor abandoned the project for 3 months.
Contractor does not stand behind his work, does not have his much touted “eye for detail: is not a perfectionist, and his high prices do not correlate with high quality.
Contractor will not accept any
responsibility for errors in work. Contract for electrical work and job is so poor that Verizon and Spectrum would not plug equipment in for fear of sparks or safety hazards
I do not know why/how this company was able to achieve these ratings. Maybe they are relatives, in-laws, or some reciprocity agreement from fellow contractors. The only thing we know is that they know how to use a computer. I used them for painting, and by the proprietor's own admission, the final coat was done with expired paint (looks like white wash; wrong size/type of roller, and inadequate prep supplies, resulting in paint stains everywhere the painter worked. He charges 3x the amount anyone else does, and all claims of perfectionism and eye for detail are a fraud. This person, Nikolas Stanovic, CEO, misrepresents himself and his quality.. A contractor had to come in after him as Nikolas' electrician wired the boiler switch as a three way (blowing our circuits); my jacuzzi on-off switch with a dimmer, blew out all the electricity in the apartment, and the switch plates were put on crooked, or are hanging off. This electrical “upgrade" cost $1500.00 in labor and $440.00 in materials. My qualified electrician, onsite fixing errors and damages sustained by Streets And Avenues, said the job was at most $800.00, including parts and labor. BEWARE and shop around... Note, all services were paid for in full MONTHS ago, with no change in price or scope of work. I still have not received my cabinets back which were taken off site for refinishing in January (paid for in full February 28). All work has been left unfinished. Also, because this is NYC, the contractor is in violation of Code 247-A, and failure to pull a 10-Point Permit, as is always required, for an installation of more than 10 outlets. March 21, 2017, Mayor Bill de Blasio enacted introduction 247-A, a bill which amends the New York City administrative code to increase the civil and criminal penalties for performing electrical work without a license: Bill Signed Into Law March 21, 2017: https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=1709686&GUID=17838459-7388-4148-B41E-84A223E942E0 Press Release: https://www.ecmag.com/section/your-business/ny-law-increases-penalties-unlicensed-electricians NY Law Increases Penalties for Unlicensed Electricians - Electrical Contractor Magazine According to the New York City Council website, on March 21, Mayor Bill de Blasio enacted Introduction 247-A, a bill which amends the New York City administrative code to increase the civil and criminal penalties for performing electrical work without a license.. So I hired Streets and Avenues to perform a complete renovation on our 3 bedroom and 2.5 bathroom apartment in the city. From the start, it’s obvious that they are professionals and take pride in what they do. The owner was very detailed, even from the start this was obvious as their proposal was 20 pages long. The project took 5 months to do which was on schedule for what the project originally called for. Even with the set backs that took place, from material coming in late or broken, problems with building management approving the work, etc., the team at SnA were professional and always found a solution. We’re very happy with them and my husband and I would recommend anyone who’s looking for a professional company who absolutely knows what they’re doing. Thank you streets for your hard work. We love our home!
