    Extension & Full house remodel

    Sunset West are excellent contractors - Tom is a veteran in the business and exactly the kind of person you want working on your home. He is genuine (which is very refreshing) and knows what he is talking about which is crucial for your home.

    We did an extension and a full remodel - Tom's entire approach is consultative - he has a knack for design and his approach is pragmatic. Tom will make solid recommendations and work with you to develop a construction plan within your individual constraints.

    Tom and the team have a unique ability to think outside the box and come up with both ideas and solutions - We often exchanged ideas around alternative approaches which would allow us to maintain our design aesthetic whilst getting what we really wanted and staying within city and 'green' guidelines.

    Tom's crew are very professional - they are courteous, respectful and always tidy up behind themselves. Tom also has access to a very good set of of sub-contractors and quality suppliers, which allows Sunset West to be efficient and deliver an excellent final product.     Family room addition, kitchen remodel

    We own a custom single family home in the Mission San Jose District of Fremont. We love our home, but it had a major problem. The family room was much too small with exits to both the garage and backyard that took up over half of the room. Also, the family room is adjacent to the kitchen (also too small) with a solid wall separating the two rooms. Tom designed an addition that removed the wall, extended the kitchen, widened and separated the exits and built a larger yet more intimate family room. The difference is amazing. With this open architecture it is now possible to see and talk with people in the other room and anyone entering or exiting can do so without bumping into others in the family room.
    We are very pleased with the top quality materials, cabinets and appliances installed by Tom and his team. One note about Tom’s focus on lasting value for any Sunset West project. He used an excellent, experienced hardwood floor company, but before the installation began, Tom noticed a slight sag in the center floor – a problem he permanently corrected by adding a center beam foundation under the floor. I highly recommend Sunset West to any home owner with a design problem to solve.
