Sand and Refinish my hardwood floors
    $10,000

Working with Sunshine Flooring was a great experience from start to finish the owner David was very honest and transparent throughout the project as well as always available for any questions my husband and I had! We love our new floors and get tons of compliments on them and definitely will be using Sunshine again in our other home as well as we would be happy to recommend them to our friends

    Refinish floors

Dishonest and unprofessional. Ruined our floors and won't stand behind the work.

We hired David Gilbert to refinish out Merbau hardwood floors in April, 2019. The job was supposed to take 7 business days and took almost three weeks so the cost of housing my 5 person family (plus dog) was almost double (over $24k).

When we saw the floors we were horrified -- they looked far worse than before the refinishing. David assured us the blotchiness would even out over time -- it has not. We got three separate opinions and every other professional pointed to the same issue -- the wrong product applied to the floors. In August, 2019 we asked David to come redo the floors. Since that time he has come up with the following excuses for being unable to fix his work: 1) my wife recently had a baby, 2) we have a limited schedule due to covid (I literally got a mass marketing email from him within a month of that excuse pitching his availability), 3) let's wait until the smoke from these fires clears, and my personal favorite: 4) I have a fix-and-flip contracting business and it's so profitable right now I don't have time to do this.

Moving out of our house for three weeks during the school year was the most disruptive experience we've ever had and two years later we are having to do it all over again. (Floor Pros has been great to work with and did the job properly).

You should know that David is a salesman who will tell you whatever you want to hear but he is also a liar. I have various emails and texts from him completely contradicting himself about what they did or did not do to our floors. We have tried to be patient with his schedule for two years now (I told him "any time this summer" and he still couldn't find time for us. I offered to split his costs with him and hire someone else to redo the work and he refused. We have now filed a complaint with the licensing board and unfortunately are having to take him to court to recoup our expenses. Avoid Sunshine Floors at all costs! If for no other reason than he just has more money to make elsewhere and doesn't care about the quality of his work or his reputation.

I wish this site allowed you to upload pictures so you could see what our floors looked like AFTER they were refinished (when we brought a real estate agent over to the house the first thing she said was "well we will obviously need to get the floors refinished" to which I said "we just did!" So sad and disappointing.
