    Bathroom remodel
    $5,400

“This is the worst work I’ve ever done."

The RI Contractor’s Registration Board lists Superior Tile #36398 as “Invalid.” He left our bathroom in terrible condition from 6/18-9/3, 2024. He was argumentative until admitting that the work was his worst, and repeatedly delayed repairs. He abandoned the project permanently 9/3 after 77 days and many excuses.

He was hired for tile and drywall work at 1.5 weeks starting 6/17. Demo was delayed to 6/18, then work lasted 6/24-7/3. He prematurely declared the wall tile done on 6/27. Had we not intervened, he would have skipped two whole sections entirely. We were away from 6/28 to 7/7 and had two housesitters. Andrew wanted final payment before finishing because we would be away, and we complied in good faith. He cashed it on 6/28, totaling roughly $5.5k.

When we returned, the bathroom was shocking: crooked tiles, incomplete drywall & wall tile, poor grouting, and a mess of dust, grout, and scrap. Nothing was cleaned, and the plaster was poor. The mess extended through our kitchen and onto floors, doors, and appliances.

We called 7/8; he promised to make it right but did not explain what happened. On 7/11, his tone shifted. He blamed us for leaving, insulted my housesitters, and claimed they pressured him but couldn’t explain how. He said we should have left him a key to work unsupervised. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend leaving Superior Tile unsupervised in your home.

When questioned about the mess, he dismissed it. There was so much debris, and our bathroom door must be repainted. A good contractor cleans up, he did not.

He only wanted to fix the floor, refusing responsibility for a bowed wall & falsely claiming all the walls in our house were bowed (only his work is bowed and the bathroom walls weren’t before). When I didn’t agree to those terms (there was drywall to do), he said I wasted his time & tried to leave, even though he was fully paid. Eventually, he admitted it was his worst work.

Andrew said he "forgot" the drywall work. The forgetfulness and lack of attention to detail are concerning; I’m shocked he thought his work was finished when he left 7/3.

He said he’d fix it starting 7/17. A delay on tile shipment pushed it to 7/22, then various other excuses until 8/5. He often texted last-minute to cancel. On 8/5, he spent one hour on demo and left without notice, leaving the toilet unusable again and A LOT of residual tile beneath crooked underlayment; he did not factor in the weather forecast and canceled work 8/6 and 8/7.

We value safety for the contractor and our own. His poor foresight with searchable weather information impacted our health and safety by leaving us with no accessible toilet from 8/5 onward. This would have been avoided if he had planned and communicated.

He returned 8/20 for drywall work. On 8/21 he informed us that he never picked up the tile ordered on 7/11 so Lowes RETURNED IT TO THE WAREHOUSE, stopping work again. He lied on 7/26 and 8/7 when he said he had the tile. He blamed Lowes and ignored the 7-day pickup policy sent with order confirmations. The tile was likely returned before 8/5.

After saying he picked up the tile on 8/29, Andrew ceased communications until officially backing out of the project 9/3, citing family problems. There are still wall, floor, and plaster issues, and thousands of dollars of incomplete and flawed work remain. We await a refund.

He relied on schoolyard insults and lies and was negligent at every step. He downplayed the work and misled on time estimates & product orders. The state should reconsider his licensure.

We have reported Andrew for negligence and will pursue legal action. For months he was given chances to do the right thing and he didn’t. Flooring and plaster companies confirmed his work was flawed and what it’ll take to fix it.

Andrew lied to us and ruined our bathroom project. He strung us along for months and then walked away, leaving a giant mess. He hasn’t responded to any refund requests.
