What a horrible experience! It's been just over two years since the project to remodel my pool and backyard. It's been terrible since the moment Robert cashed my check and it is still getting worse! It's all so bad now that I've decided to write this review to hopefully keep others from having this experience!
1) It took more than three months to do the job that was estimated at 3-4 weeks. It was never due to weather or anything "Act of God" related. It just didn't get done and Robert blamed it on "bad contractors." He hired those contractors, right???
2) When the crew demo'd the old patio, they left all the debris scattered all over the yard and grass for so long that it killed the grass and I ended up spending another $600 to have half of my backyard re-sodded.
3) When the electrical work with the pool lights proved to be faulty, Robert actually tried to charge me another $500 to fix what he didn't do right the first time.
4) The fire pit installation was done such that a nasty "scale" forms all around it. Robert's solution was to have a crew clean off the scale. Nothing was done to fix the problem that was causing the scale to form in the first place and subsequently, I have had it cleaned three more times between then and now. And it's back again.
5) The patio doesn't drain or channel water properly. Anytime it rains, water puddles in several places, leading to really bad staining. It does clean up somewhat with power washing, but I have to power wash it about every 3-6 months to keep it looking even DECENT. The level of the drain plate isn't even below the level of the patio so it does nothing to help mitigate the water. I've had another contractor out to look at the patio and fireplace and his opinion is that the patio wasn't properly leveled to manage water and the fireplace has inadequate drainage to control the moisture and the scale.
6) The flagstone on the patio has now broken along one edge. There is no concrete foundation under this part of the flagstone so frankly I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. It's next to a flower bed, so it isn't because of heavy traffic or anything dropped on it...it just has no support so this will likely be the first break of many. See picture below.
7) The tiles along both sides of the outdoor kitchen have just completely fallen off! See pics below. One edge next to the house, so it gets no use, no bumps, no drops...the tiles just fell off on their own!
8) Immediately after installation of the outdoor kitchen, I noticed the smell of gas. It took them THREE visits to take my report seriously and find and repair the leak. The first two times, they dismissed it as my "imagination" and only did a perfunctory check.
9) When I contacted Robert with this list of issues, his response was insulting to say the least (like most of my conversations with him). He did agree to come take a look at it. That was in March. It is now November and I've yet to see him or hear from him. This is what I got for my +$25,000 spend with Robert! I'd have been disappointed with this if I'd spent $2,500!

The worst pool contractor in Texas!!!!
1. Demolished my fence in September of 21 & didn't put it back up till February 22. Two guys worked on it all day & it was still wrong.
2. Left trash & debris in my yard for 4-5 months.
3. Told me the pool would take 12 weeks & it took 7 months!!! Gave me different dates along the way & did not hit one date on time!
4. They do not come to the job site after contractors have worked to check on progress or clean up. They do not read city/County rules. They just do what they want & let the city/county decide if its good or not. My rebar failed inspection, plumbing failed inspection, & gas service failed inspection. Which means contractors had to come out twice & delayed progress even more.
5. They do not call & check on things or ask you if your are happy with work. They only call you when they want to be paid & demand payment before work is complete.
6. I had to hire a separate pool company to verify what was in my contract was actually in my back yard. Within 5 minutes of reading the contract he discovered I was missing a pump. Mind you they had asked to be paid for pumps at this point. They did admit the mistake & install the pump but if they would just check on there jobs this would have been avoided.
7. There contract is strictly written up for them to be negligent & lazy. PLEASE READ YOUR CONTRACT & MAKE THEM PUT A COMPLITION DATE IN IT!!!
8. I had to push them every step of the way. If I didn't call & ask about the pool & where we were at nobody would show up. Workers only showed up after phone calls & would come on weekends & with out notice.
9. They didn't ask what color expansion joint I wanted & I guess just used what they had on hand. When I complained about the color they had the concrete guy try & stain over it & would not fix the problem.
10. They put the wrong color tile on the fire pit. I chose a black tile & got grey. Which matches my wall on the pool but means they charged me for another type of split face & used the left overs from the wall. When I aske the worker about it he said they assumed it was the same as the wall.
11. The drain in the fire pit is higher then the concrete so that is pretty much useless. I asked them to fix it & they said they would. Instead they had there son just hurry & finish the firepit before I got home. I asked him if he fixed the drain & he told me he knew nothing about it.
All in all they are just bad & rude. They do not care anything about your happiness or your home. They just want to lock as many people as possible into a contract, dig a hole, & then vanish for months. I strongly suggest you consider someone else. We cant let contractors keep treating the middle class like this. I would not write this lengthy of a review if I wasn't truly upset. Robert, I hope you read this & treat people better then you did us!! This is Trahan pools, Pools by Robert Trahan, & Gulf Coast pools. Not sure which one of there companies built my nightmare!
