  We hired Geoff Bright of Synergy Home Improvements to renovate our home on January 7, 2019. Our project was to be completed April 30 2019. In the beginning weeks Geoff was very responsive and kept us informed on the progress regularly with emails, texts and photos. Approximately 4 weeks into the process, progress stopped and communication was limited.
  Our contract called for any and all permits to be obtained by Geoff Bright with the fees included in the contract price. The only permit for carpentry work that had been obtained was for replacing five windows and one entry door. This permit was obtained on March 6, 2019. On Jan 8, 2019 Geoff Bright and Synergy Home Improvements performed work in connection with installing a support post and a ceiling beam, including framing in the rafters. This work was structural in nature, which also required a building permit which was not obtained prior to work being done. When we learned of this, we pushed the issue that Geoff Bright obtain the necessary permit immediately. He was unable to obtain said permit as he had let his workman’s comp insurance lapse. After repeated communication on our part to resolve the issues that remained to get our house complete, the lack of response of this contractor was inexcusable given we had paid him for work and materials that were not installed nor completed. On July 1, 2019 we terminated our contract due to material breach and our home remained uninhabitable for the next 30 days. I would not recommend this contractor or his company. He is unethical and the quality of his service and work is in complete contrast to what he advertises and he failed to perform his obligations under the contract to which he entered into.
