I was given this plumber by a home warranty company. I paid the agreed upon $50 trade fee to the contractor. They did not disclose that there was anything unusual when they came to the house to diagnose that I needed a new water heater. They called the warranty company and told them I needed to pay an additional $45 for Vent Mods and $45 for T & P mods. After talking with a few other plumbers and researching online I found that the Temperature and Pressure valve would be used on the new water heater and there are no modifications but only to reuse it on the new water heater. When I questioned the contractor as to what the vent mods were he said it was because he needed to cut the copper pipe and reattach and that wasn't covered by the warranty company. In order to replace the water heater the copper pipe needs to be cut and should be part of the cost of replacing the water heater. This is no different than what anyone would have to do to replace the water heater. The water heater is under warranty and is being replaced by the same manufacturer. The contractor asked me if I was a plumber when I was trying to understand why I needed to pay an additional $90. The water heater has very few connections and I was sincerely trying to understand why mine was different and not covered. He said he needed to charge these fees for the connection!! which as I mentioned should be included in replacing the water heater and the fee that the warranty company pays to TH Services. I would caution anyone dealing with this company to do your homework and verify what is actually being done and what costs associated with the repair.

I had a plumber replace my water heater today within 4 hours. It was under warranty and their were no modifications that had to be made! TH Services was going to charge me $45 for the Vent modification and $45 for the T & P modification. The vent required 2 screws to remove and replace. The T & P valve was already attached to the new water heater and the copper pipe running from it had a copper union that just needed to be unscrewed and reconnected with the union to the new water heater. Again I caution anyone dealing with this company to verify what they are doing specifically. Good Luck!
