Tachi Construction Comp. installed new roof at Seattle for me in June, 2011. They used wrong sized nails. All nails extruded surface 1/2~3/4 inches. A tall man could get pierced under the porch if one jumps up and down. I rate their work two starts for the roof functions well, does not leak. After several requests they fixed the mistake by covering up board underneath but charged me additional $320 for labor and materials.

Used to be great. Ping Li of Tachi Construction was once a trusted and affordable handyman for years, having helped us with numerous projects including exterior painting, replacement of toilet, water heater, rotted door frame, and more. Unfortunately that's in the past. Nowadays he seems less willing or able to help.
Lately, when called him to fix a leaky water valve, he balked and said it was something we could fix ourselves. So we went to the trouble to remove parts as he suggested and bought what we thought were suitable replacements. When we sent pictures of same he said "Just install the new part!" However he neglected to mention it was the WRONG part. Once installed it was terribly difficult to remove, necessitating more trips to the hardware store. Finally he agreed to come over with wrench in hand and needed part—a simple $10 angle valve. Had he told us which part to actually buy, we could have actually done the job ourselves at a fraction of his $240 price for just a few minutes of work. Thanks anyway for the wild goose chase and grand chance to empty our wallet.
Adding insult to injury, he admitted he didn't remember us or our house at all despite having come over many times before. Nothing like being fondly remembered for past patronage.
So hire him if half desperate, just don't be too desperate lest you too be taken for a ride. Do request an invoice as he is apt to demand cash only. Honesty and transparency are good policies; and he like everyone else ought to be eligible to pay taxes on what he charges. Good luck.
