Unfortunately I cannot recommend him to other customers.
Taheri was the contractor we hired to build a new deck based on his ratings and reviews on BBB and he was a big disappointment. The new deck replaced an older deck, a stand alone deck at ground level, away from the house’s brick back wall. He misled me to believe that the new deck was a replacement for the old one so there was no need for a PERMIT, which was absolutely untrue. Even though I urged him to get the PERMIT he refused to get one. I later found out that he had not pulled a single permit since 2016 (city records).
The work on the wood deck began in early July and was completed end of July 2021. And then he disappeared during the month of August until he realized he still had one more fixture to add to the deck – a door to replace a back window leading onto the deck. We refused to get the window replaced, and that job was cancelled. He went through 4 different crews to build the wood deck and a cement patio (under the deck), and the crews would work at the most 2 days a week. The dismantling of the old deck was done by one crew, the frame of the deck by the other, railings and the stairs by the third one and the patio by the last group. The last crew did not even clean up the yard after they finished the work. The workers left 4x4s in cement base from the previous deck, in the ground and left holes in the ground open. A few damaged floorboards with holes were used and I asked him to replace them but he completely ignored the request.
In 2d week of September it was pointed out to me by another construction worker, that the screws used to hang and attach the Ledger-board to the brick wall were not according to the city deck code, and they were spaced too far apart. I called him and told him to fix the problem along with others, and emphatically told him to get a PERMIT. For next whole week he gave me the impression that he was applying for the PERMIT. I soon realized that he was lying and he had no intention of pulling a permit. So, I decided to get estimates from other deck builders to rectify some of the problems and complete the unfinished work. I saw him trespassing our property on September 30 for no valid reason.
I definitely will NOT recommend him to other potential customers.
