I had the same experience as Darlene and I still have no refund and I paid by cashiers check. What a fool I was.

Comments: I hired Joseph Chehade in June and had contract in July, 2021. He wanted 1/2 upfront but I paid (thankfully by credit card) 1/3 upfront. I originally liked him because he always answered my text questions and was very polite and nice and his estimate was low. Now here are my complaints: He did nothing for me; did not buy any materials, did not ever come back to house; but he kept promising me that he'll get plumber out on Tues., then it would be Mon. of next week, etc., etc.; he couldn't get plumber to come to house for 6 weeks; he promised me the world but didn't follow through with anything at all (ex. I told him the tiles I wanted and vanity, etc. and I was the one that had to go to tile place and paid for and brought home (all contractors were doing this for their customers, but not mine) all tiles, sink top, etc. and brought them in my house myself); I told him toilet I wanted and he never got that either (I couldn't bring that home myself); the vanity I ordered and payed for and had delivered to my home, etc. All of these things were included in estimate too! When I would ask about permits he said he applied for them but I would check with City Hall and they were never applied for (6 weeks after I hired him)! Finally I confronted him about this and other things and he said he had permit filled out but was waiting on plumber to say he could start before he sent building contractor permit through. He said he would give me my money back if I wasn't happy and I said YES, I want my money back (which I believe he didn't think I would actually say yes). (I was tired of being strung along with one excuse after another.) That was Aug. 25. He said he couldn't get it back to me unless I gave my credit card again and I said I wanted a cashiers check instead. He said he would. After this he would not answer my texts. Sept. 6th I contacted credit card company and explained the situation and they said they will look into it and reimburse me. The day I got credit card company involved is when contractor answered my text and said the check was being processed (1 1/2 weeks after he originally said he would send out). I never got the check. Luckily, my credit card reimbursed me and went after contractor (who to my knowledge they couldn't get ahold of and went after his financial institution). Do not pay anyone by check unless you know they are a reputable contractor. (I don't know if the contractor was intentionally ripping me off or if it was just that he did not have a reliable plumber/electrician to hire. But if the latter was the case, he shouldn't be taking on jobs and taking people's money until he has everyone on board). I'm quite sure the contractor will reply to this review with some more of the excuses that he dished out to me for 2 months. Just because I will not be replying to them, does not mean that I agree with what he says.
