    New home construction

We contracted with Technically Aesthetic General Contractors from Johnson city TN to build a Barndominum in August 2021. In June of 2022 Tyrone Mitchell, owner of Technically Aesthetic quit before interior framing was completed. The process of building our home was a terrible experience for us. We were supposed to have 12 foot ceilings and material was bought accordingly to accommodate that, plus additional material that wasn’t needed. I realized that the post were cut and installed for 10 foot ceilings. I contacted Tyrone and he said he would fix it if I wanted, but I chose to continue with the build because by the time the post were set we had been waiting approximately 6-7 month to even start the framing process. During the framing of the interior structure I realized some of the window frames and walls were being framed in the wrong location. I brought this to the attention of the supervisor and he verified they were off by about 6 inches. If I didn’t discover this, my kitchen cabinets wouldn’t of fit. Siding, exterior doors and windows were installed without any vapor barrier. I discovered this and requested that he come out to see this for himself. He continued to send his employees to install the siding for 3 days before he showed up. I had the county inspector there when Tyrone arrived and the inspector went over all the things that needed to be replaced and fixed. 2 of my exterior doors were damaged during the first installation and they are still damaged. I was being billed cost + 25% his employees were working at my house and I felt the hours I was being charged didn’t line up with the hours his employees were working. I requested several times to be given the hours and days that his employees were being paid for so I could compare to my notes. I also asked for proof of payment to his employees so I could see if they were being paid the amount I was being charged. He only supplied me with the weekly total hours but not the days and time of clock in and clock out. I also never received proof of payment to his employees. I was checking my invoices and realized I was double billed a couple times. I also received a bill with an attached receipt. The name of the company and the receipt did not match. After digging a little deeper I realized I had received this receipt before but I was sent a different image of it. I emailed his secretary and she promptly corrected the mistake and apologized. I went through the receipts and found items that I was being charged for that were being bought to fix contractor errors. I was never notified of the correction or that I was being charged to fix it. Tyrone made changes to the plans without getting my approval. He rented equipment and had it delivered from another town with a $400 delivery fee. He could of rented it in the town that my home was being built at for a delivery fee of $100. I told him that was unacceptable so he removed to delivery fee. But he didn’t call to have the equipment picked up so we were charged for a 2 day rental when his employees only used it for approximately 1-2 hours. We argued over the post holes being out of alignment and post that were cut to short, where he just added a block of wood to make up for the off measurements. He refused to correct them. His communication with me was terrible. Some things I requested he fix, he refused, but the inspector made him. He didn’t even complete the list of repairs ordered by the inspector before he quit. We pretty much argued every step of the process. It got to the point where he was demanding I pay for the corrections or he was going to “have all his subs put a lien on my house” that was interesting considering I had paid him for all the sub work at the time except septic. I’m including pictures that I took throughout Tyrone’s contracted build of my house.

When my wife and I decided to have a carport built that would blend in with our neighborhood, I did an extensive search for a licensed and competent contractor. We were fortunate to obtain the contracting services of Mr. Tyrone Mitchell, owner and chief operator of Technically Aesthetic General Contractors, LLC of Johnson City, Tennessee. I was impressed with the level of professionalism and attention to detail that Mr. Mitchell displayed. He assisted my wife and I in deciding on a design for the carport and in the location, in compliance with Johnson City Planning codes. My wife and I also had Mr. Mitchell to handle reroofing our home and outbuilding so that it would be the same as the carport’s roof. Our projects were completed in a timely manner. Mr. Mitchell and his staff were able to minimize the delays that occurred due to incumbent weather (including an early snow fall). He kept us informed during the construction and patiently listened to any concerns that we had during the construction. Both my wife and I are very pleased with the quality of work that he and his staff did. We would recommend Technically Aesthetic General Contractors, LLC.

Insurance work and a kitchen remodel.
    $55,000

This company was paid to complete insurance work and additional work. Issues with the work are as follows. Stolen tools from property, light covers left of. Live electrical wire left exposed, literally just cut and left hanging. I was shocked by it. Pantry unfinished, air duct covers not installed, garage light never purchased or installed that was part of insurance work. Also shutters for the house that was insurance work as well. Never purchased or installed. Materials for job sat on top of the homes main drain line. That collapsed the line. No help with it. Family was without a working toilet. This man did not care. Charged 8k for hanging sheetrock in a 200sqft kitchen! Porch was built with steps. I come home one day and my steps literally were taken. Siding from the job that I paid for was taken. I had to raise hell to get it back. Nails left in driveway. Trashed left laying around the home. Sheetrock work was garbage at best. Sheetrock tape half stuck on wall and painted over space yourself the trouble.

    Addition
    $7,280

I paid them $7,280 for an As-Built and a set of architectural blueprints. The only meeting with the architect was a joke as he omitted the two most important design aspects. Jamel Foster tried to get me to sign a contract WITHOUT any blueprints. After six frustrating months and many excuses from Jamel, I am finally having to resort to Small Claims Court.

    Amazing Design and Build

I contacted Technically Aesthetic for an estimate on a complete bathroom renovation. I received a prompt response and set up a site visit the next day. Mr. Mitchell, their owner, provided us with a great floor plan and design and we hired them to complete the work. They completed the renovation in a timely manner and showed nothing but top notch professionalism. Our bathroom turned out amazing and was beyond our expectation. Next year we will be calling them again to transform our other bathroom. If anyone wants professionalism and great quality construction work you have to call Technically Aesthetic.
