By Richard P.March 10, 2022Replace 2 water heaters, repaired one of them under warranty.
I had Texas Plumber Pros replace 2 water heaters in Aug 2021 with Rheem Pro + G50 36P RH62 propane units. In March 2022 one of them stopped working. There's a newer type combustion shutoff called a TRD that is a glass vial. If the combustion chamber overheats, the glass vial melts(?) and shuts off the gas supply. I googled it and it seems there are plenty of problems with this setup. I called Rheem and had a good experience, they sent me a new TRD overnight. I installed it, and 30 seconds later it failed again. I called Texas Plumber Pros and told them of my troubles. They sent out a technician who was very professional and helpful. After checking the flu for exhaust blockages, he thought it was the gas valve supplying too much gas (blue and yellow flame). We called Rheem together, who again overnighted parts, Texas Plumber Pros came back out, WITH THE OWNER, installed the parts, and I'm back up and running. A great experience, I highly recommend this company.
