    Absolutely terrible, stressful experience! If I could give a 0 I would! Started in May… was to be done by 7/4/22. It’s now September. My whole summer outdoor space was stressful, a mess and ruined.
    Jim/ James Thayer comes off like a nice family man, owns a spa in Narragansett in with his wife. You would never think he would take your money and RUN! We’ll think again! Starts off good, you pay he bolts.
    Never pulled any permits.
    Inspections failed on what he did do.
    Never returns calls/ texts.
    Leaves a mess at your home full of cigarettes, bottles, nails, screws, sharp tools. I have children and he left all his materials against their swing set.
    A disaster from day one. Always lying and making you believe the work will get done and doesn’t.
    DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY! You will get scammed like the rest of us! And he made some BIG money!

    Owes us money for work he never completed. Told us one thing and did nothing multiple times. Example: going to pick up flooring..never went to pick up the flooring. (Stood in our driveway and said I’m going to pick up the flooring this morning. Left with his trailer and never picked up the flooring and didn’t contact us despite multiple calls and texts and emails). And this is just one example!!! Does not answer phone calls, texts or emails. Except the initial encounters I’m assuming becasue of initial $. No shows, messy. I could go on and on

    Took our $20,000 deposit and never came back. We are pursuing him through the legal system. Strange as he did a few smaller jobs for us and the work was good and James himself was very nice. I left a note at his wife’s spa asking him just for explanation and even offering to stick with him but no response Can’t figure why he scammed us. Hoping we can retrieve something via the courts. The experience has really upset my wife and we are incredibly disappointed.

    Stay away from this company. We hired Jim Thayer's company in the summer of 2021 to perform a major deck renovation. We paid all monies owed, including final payment in September 2021, but then found out that he had never officially pulled the permit. The permit was eventually issued in late winter 2022 after filing complaints with the state, but the deck failed final inspection. Fast forward to June 2022, and he has still not corrected the failed inspection issues.
