In case anyone is thinking about using The Dan Lynch Co. for waterproofing, we just had a very bad experience with them. In fact, it was the single worst contractor experience in over 35 years of home ownership.
From the day we signed their contract, it took two months to complete a very simple landscape drainage repair project. They were the opposite of customer service oriented. Wouldn't return calls or emails for days at a time - sometimes weeks! - and we only heard from the owner and office staff when they wanted to be paid - and then, they behaved like bill collectors. They wanted a check immediately upon presentation of a bill, and were super insistent about it. They don't take credit cards and insisted on coming by in person to collect a check. Which led to leaving under the doormat if someone wasn't going to be home that day.
Quality was fine (not great) and prices ended up being exorbitant. To give you an idea... for 'time and materials' they charged over $1500 to dig an 18 ft. trench across a flowerbed (1 ft. deep) and connect two pipes. Their labor rates for each laborer are $90/hr., and there were three guys digging. The foreman was $110, and he was angry and rude. All in all we paid almost $11,000 for a simple landscape drainage repair. By the end of the project we felt like we were being ripped off, but just wanted to get it finished.
The worst part of the experience is that their invoices consisted of just a single number - say $1500 -- for time and materials to complete a change order. When we asked to see the breakout of hours and materials, they reacted negatively, finally offering to come by and show us in person why their billing was right. But they would not put an expense breakout on an invoice or in an email. Just the total. The final straw was that when we did not reply within 7 hours to the offer to show us the breakout (we were out for the day and hadn't seen the email) their business manager sent a second and third emails insulting us and threatening to place a lien on our property.
After they left, we learned that they had broken our sprinkler system in three separate places. In fact, they had only buried the drain 6 inches deep - - and they have laid it right atop our irrigation pipes. They also cut our landscape lighting wires. We had to have our landscape contractor come back and clean up the mess. More $$$!!
There's more, but suffice it to say, we would not recommend using them.
