I would definitely recommend Fireplace Doctor. I have a home that was built in 1899 and they figured out all the issues with the gas and electricity. They have been very helpful since then, too.

I had a gas fireplace installed after a chimney fire with an older wood unit. The history was: after setting up the installation they called several times to delay the install over a 10 day period because they could not get the unit from the factory. Meanwhile they had someone come out to run a gas line to the location. Had issues with the county on the gas connection permit as they argued that this is the way they always did it. They finally realized they had to do it the legal way and that was completed after trying to connect them up with the code inspectors over weeks. Did a lot of the removal of the old unit an framework myself. They did install the new unit and set it up and explained the basics. After the install realized the fan ran for hours after gas shut off because of the heat sensor that seemed to be not the best design and the pilot light that was set very high. I Finally went to local place and replaced the heat switch and tuned the gas regulator myself. While they (Fireplace Doctor all seemed to be very friendly they knew the basics but did not follow up on customer satisfaction to my satisfaction. There were complaints from them that they were losing money on this job because things did not go well but I think they should have known the regulations and setups. Now that the unit has been tuned (by myself) it works great but would not go back to them for future stuff.
